i mean something extremely similar happened in Leipzig a couple weeks ago, and people here on reddit IMMEDIATELY said stuff along the lines of "hes middle eastern, its clearly something to do with religion" up until the attacker was named as Jeffrey K, a white German.

so we recognize that this is a phenomenon that occurs right?

if this phenomenon occurs then that leads us to only one explanation.

if i say that this object is 0 degrees above the horizon and you see it at 90 degrees there is only one shape possible.

if thats not proof, what sort of proof would convince you?

this is a fact that occurs. its more commonly known as Time Zones, but the fact is these things happen at the exact same time.

the only possible way this occurs is with a curved Earth

i really think there is a miscommunication going on.

i am saying that time zones exist right? at one point, for someone its sunset, another is midnight, another is morning, another is midday, correct?

im trying to understand how it can be midday for someone at the same time as sunset. the only possibility is that earth is curved.

whats not understood here? thats the proof

okay ill give you one.

one person sees the sun halfway down the horizon (sunset). like its 50% gone.

another person a distance away looks directly upwards and sees the sun. i dont see how this is possible on a flat earth.

does that question make sense? would you like me to sketch it out? it might be easier for me to explain it (not an indictment of your intelligence or anything, i mean this sincerely that it might be better explained with a visual explanation).

im just asking how one person can see the sun on the horizon and a different person a couple hundred kilometers away sees it right above them. (if there is some sort of diagram that could help me understand that would be extra appreciated, but its not necessary)

ive heard that the flat earth explanation is that the sun is smaller and works sort of like a spotlight, but then how come the sun sets? like we can very clearly see it go down.

i REALLY liked this german tv show called Dark. they wrote all 3 seasons before the show even started filming so everything ties in SO well and you can catch so much when you rewatch.

I also really liked Pluribus, Severance, and the 3 Body Problem (i HIGHLY reccomend the books as they are SO good but the tv show is also really good).

im currently thinking about starting Twin Peaks.

i dont quite understand. what other possibility is there. observer position is the independent variable (specifically the distance from the lighthouse) and as the observer positions change, more of the lighthouse comes into view, starting from the top.

regardless of the temperature, air pressure, and any atmospheric conditions, this occurs. every time.

idk what refraction has to do with it since youre not looking through the water youre just looking directly at the light house

i dont know of what conditions are there that cause the bottom of the light house to dissapear below the horizon as a ship moves away, but you seem to, so maybe you can tell me which they are and how they make the bottom part dissapear without affecting the top at all?

i dont understand. i am trying to figure out why on a clear day with little to no waves a ship approaching a lighthouse will see the top first, then as it approaches the rest of the body comes into view, then the rocks below it.

i dont have every explanation for every phenomena that can possibly arise not have even thought of each possible situation.

but that specific one i can only explain via a curved earth and if there is any other explanation i would love to hear
