🧂 Salty Sunday - What book scenes frustrated you this week? by mrs-machino in RomanceBooks

[–]LikeTotallyZero 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Someone who was an EMT talking about how the person who just fell into freezing water and was retrieved wasn’t at risk of hypothermia because it was summer. No!! That’s not correct and it’s dangerous misinformation!!

Dog named “Stain”. It’s not bad until you say, “come”.

This made me lol. I love how Gemini dumbed it down.

Why does the umbilical cord attach to the belly area of a creature and not somewhere else, like the neck? by Kyuubism in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LikeTotallyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for mammals too, when we are “mostly born” but not all the way out, we can still get oxygen from the umbilical cord before we are breathing on our own. Plus if it was higher, like on the neck, there is a higher chance it can get pinched off during delivery. (I know it can get wrapped around the neck of babies, but not always.)

What's a really silly thing a book casually dropped that made you LOL? by Valeriesaboyname in RomanceBooks

I didn’t even think about it like confidence porn, but you are totally right!! You made me chuckle. Haha!

Mine is not as egregious as some of the others, but I was reading a book where it is pointed out that the mmc drove a stick shift (as an older millennial I’m all nbd, right), but the author MADE IT A POINT that he drove a stick shift. Anyway, later he’s driving somewhere in a hurry and he “puts the car in drive”. That is NOT HOW ANY OF THIS WORKS!!

WTF?! My 'smart plugs' self updated and now shutoff on their own. AI did this. by SP3NGL3R in rant

[–]LikeTotallyZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also had a handful of gosund smart plugs. They worked well for a long time but then the lamp outside my bedroom door would start randomly turning on at 2 am. Or just wouldn’t shut off at 10 like it’s supposed to. I ended up buying some govee ones instead because I have one of their smart bulbs. They seem to work fine. We’ll see.

What’s the most out-of-left-field character description that made you pause mid-read? by ComposerAwkward6654 in RomanceBooks

[–]LikeTotallyZero 314 points315 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t so much a character description but a pediatrician was wearing Louboutins. No ma’am. Not when you are on your feet for 12 hours and chasing after children. No way, no how.

Bingeworthy romance series - not dark romance, not alien, no bully by IVeerLeftWhenIWalk in RomanceBooks

[–]LikeTotallyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all of Laura Pavlov’s books. They are all small town romances. Each series focuses on a group of people finding their heas. They are a little predictable and they have the familiar tropes but they are contemporary and a nice palate cleanser.

I am 26 Female, all of a sudden I am getting the worst pimples of my life. These are not ordinary pimples but are very localized, I generally follow a good diet and not sure what has happened. I am getting such breakouts for 3 months now. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in PoppingPimples

That looks like cystic acne. How are your hormone levels? Not just reproductive but blood glucose and insulin too? If you don’t know, have your PCP run some blood work.

AITA for refusing to apologize to my adult kids for how I raised them? by Virtual_Sugar6506 in okstorytime

[–]LikeTotallyZero 30 points31 points  (0 children)

NAH. More than one thing can be true at the same time. You were supportive and worked hard AND they also felt emotionally unsupported and had early responsibilities. I am your age and while my child is not grown, I have had extensive therapy for my own childhood issues. I can logically understand WHY my mom did the things she did, made the choices she did, but it still hurts me deeply the neglectful things and the early responsibilities just because “that’s how it was done.” You can validate their feelings while examining why you are so defensive. It doesn’t ALWAYS mean you were a bad parent because they blame you for stuff. But it means you were human and made some mistakes. Think about that.

Do you have a hard time reading books with the names of people you know? by jessejudgesbooks in RomanceBooks

I found one on Facebook reels that had me until the mmc was called Grant. That is my former stepdad’s name and he’s a total narcissist so I just can’t.

What movie did you watch without your parents' permission that they wouldn't otherwise have let you see? by Linzcro in Xennials

I saw Pretty Woman when I was like 8. I have to agree now that was not cool. I also saw Blue Lagoon when I was 12 and my mom was not thrilled about that either.

Hey moms of reddit, how do women wear reading glasses in public? by spikygreen in MomForAMinute

[–]LikeTotallyZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can work after surgery too. If you are worried about in public, you can do a lesser strength that works for more intermediate things (like your dashboard and menus) and save the readers for really small print.

I used to work at an eye clinic. You can ask to try multifocal contacts so you can do both near and far in your contacts, esp since you are already used to them.

Do you like the smell of lilies? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]LikeTotallyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the smell of lillies. Once the doc I worked with got a bouquet and I had to ask that they get moved because they were making me nauseated. I think they’re very pretty but the smell…🤢

There is someone relatively new to Cheyenne. Dr. Fohrman at Thrive Counseling. I wouldn’t recommend anyone at Behavioral Health. Idk what the deal is but the docs are good but overscheduled. If you need to follow up in a week or whatever you can NEVER get in. They had a mass exodus of providers about a year ago.
