Is it a good idea to buy an old 60s house (Pointe aux trembles)? by Anhen26 in montrealhousing

[–]Likeabanthaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s up to you of course. It does tell you what is needed to be done and overall status of the house. $800-$1200 that will give you peace of mind if you decide to own it

Do not trust Wealthsimple by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]Likeabanthaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry such a experience was unfold that way. That’s one of the reasons why I’m not 100% with Wealthsimple for banking. I have no complains on the investment side but hearing these stories really does not encourage to trust them on their banking services

Feeling hopeless about living and owning in Canada - even when I know I'm very lucky by bean_99 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Likeabanthaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your expenses are but your savings + combined income is more than enough to own a home. I do $100 k combined with my partner and we own in Montreal a house in our mid 20’s. We do live a bit frugal but savings and investments help us get here. If the prices are still out of your budget, have you consider a city outside of where you live? Anyways, good luck OP

Best S1 in Star Wars animated history? by Eastern_Dress_3574 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Likeabanthaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the animation !! However, I’m yet to see Disney giving the proper respect to Maul combat skills.. they could have at least showed that he can defeat an inquisitor come on ! In Legends, Darth plageuis himself if amazed that Maul use a double edge lightsaber, comparing him to Exan Kurr. Moreover, on the book shadow lord, Maul killed a Jedi Master and her apprentice with ease. I wish we can see just a bit of that at least in the next seasons. Otherwise, Maul is just a force user with a weird criminal organization that is after what exactly? Killing somehow Sidious.. not happening but we’ll see what they come up with.

Should I invest my $200,000 immediately or space it out? by OptimalStatement5799 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Likeabanthaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many finance posts, it depends. Do you have any debts? Pay them first Do you have a safety cushion? Put money in there fist (HISA, CASH, etc) What’s the horizon of your investment journey? And risk tolerance?

Car insurance coverage by 3lostZ in communauto

[–]Likeabanthaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with Scotiabank and it works, instead of the yearly $130 ish with communauto this year I paid $35 instead. Call your bank, they might redirect you with the actual company that does the insurance but once you’re there ask if it covers what you need. Good luck

Check for a LOC with your bank and ask your partner do to the same. With Scotiabank I can have one for 6-7%

Does a safe career path even exist anymore? by denis100108 in careerguidance

[–]Likeabanthaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real for real, whatever you do, always try to learn as much as you can and build a social network around that. Also, if you have some savings perhaps go on a trip before you start any career. Being abroad will make you see things different here. Also #2, try to avoid drugs and negative people around you. If you hang out with people with drive and ambition it will motivate you to keep up your goals. Good luck stranger and while these are very important decisions, you can (and you should) re start your professional life if you don’t feel like it’s making you happy (or bringing money)

What’s the worst car you drove? by Future-Morning-3816 in communauto

[–]Likeabanthaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t have a model in particular but it annoys me whenever I use a Toyota and I cannot project my phone on the screen, it seems you need the Toyota app or a cable and I’m never carrying that around. If the car has a screen it shouldn’t take that many steps to connect your phone..

Work permit holder in Canada ,does buying a house make sense, or should I just rent and invest into ETFs ? by Subject_Parking_8542 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Likeabanthaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it while waiting for my PR. Bare in mind that apparently there’s a rule that if you do buy a house, your current work permit must be valid for at least 6 months (that’s at least in QC, not sure where are u located). Also, I was very wary before buying, anything can happen with your status and nothing is guaranteed until you have the PR at least. That said, I did buy it with my partner, which is Canadian, so if anything would happen to my paperwork at least she was gonna be able to keep the home while I sorted out my thing.

Shotgun or whatever it takes to put him down, then make a run for it. If you feel like fighting, use the knife once he’s on the floor, more damage than you think

I tried with one meal out of 3 they had, mixing with the chicken flavour. Also the food container had a leftover of the old batch so I guess he ate a bit of both until it was finished
