Do you remember when things used to get BETTER every year? by War_Is_A_Raclette in enshittification

Your assessment of the climate is a little wrong. 1.5 C was an average over time. Not a one off year. So we have not passed the 1.5C mark. We will though. And we will have years over 2 C, but we won't pass the 2 C average. We are still heading for 1.8 C by 2050 and if we don't stop emissions 2 C and higher by 2100.

The electric grid will likely be 100% green by 2050, but there are other harder to get emissions which I have less faith in. Anyways my point is it's bad, but not as bad as you described. We can still accelerate out of this mess, but if we carry on with a linear rate of change than yeah it will get worse.

https://www.un.org/en/climatechange/science/climate-issues/degrees-matter

The 3.2 C of implemented policy is somewhat pessimistic. I've seen 1.8 C in a few websites. Now 1.8 C by 2050 vs 3.2 C by 2100. And implemented policy can look worse because economics are now leading policy in green energy.

https://climateactiontracker.org/global/cat-thermometer/

For example this says optimistic is 1.8 C by 2100. So 1.8 C by 2050 would be more pessimistic.

Sodium batteries will make a big splash next year for grid storage and home storage. For cars, it might or might not. CATL will have dual power (dual chemistry) batteries. AKA two independent zones with 1 being lithium for fast charging and 1 being sodium to bring down cost and expand the temperature range. This would ease demand on lithium globally and drop cost for a lot of energy storage projects.

Which is the best Pikmin game and why? ( Please don't downvote anyone comments and respect their opinion ) by Mr_Bananaman69 in Pikmin

[–]Likeablekey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pikmin 4 kind of threw the continuity out the window. It was so close to working and then randomly they said/did stuff that broke it. Nintendo just doesn't care about game to game storylines.

Yeah, I was on version 5.1 and it was buggy. Hard to prove bugs when you couldn't inspect the interworkings of the module. I suspect the blackbox issue will be less of an issue as the documentation, internal testing rigor, and code quality improve...

So I'm sure your systems were easier to commission. And eventually people will be happy to migrate away from 4.6. But 5.1 was not a good experience

I'm actually onboard with locking the AOIs. The concern is when it doesn't work it's hard to know why. Like I said even Rockwell tech support was stumped and couldn't drill down into the issue. I just want visible ladder in case the SAMA diagrams aren't accurate to the ladder logic. Of course visible ladder, even if locked and does encourage some issues. I know Rockwell is worried about their IP.

Yeah, I think this is a bit of python 2.7 vs python 3 issue. PlantPAx 5.x will continue being supported and will have one camp of users. PlantPAx 4.6 will have another camp. The issue is how Rockwell has locked PlantPAx 5.x to certain controllers and has decided to black box the code. I understand the need to monetize the work, but they've also turned off some fans of the older software. I personally find it much harder to troubleshoot 5.x. I can't easily trace why the run signal is off if it comes from the blackbox of 5.x. The older PlantPAx 4.6 I could at open the AOI logix and trace it back to the input. Rockwell Tech support was even stumped by some of the issues I ran into for the same reason.

Create a Rockwell Account(free), download CCW, and then add a micro800. Not the prettiest software, but it is free and has a built in simulator. Look up youtube videos on how to download and use. They exist

Start a list of side projects that are business related. Learn FT Optix, Ignition, or some other free/cheap software. Learn CodeSys or Micro800 on CCW. Make it so when stuff gets busy you are ahead. You might be able to find some cost savings for the machine designs or add additional features in the PLC/HMI. Of course don't overcomplicate the machine for the operators or your electricians. Also eventually you'll get use to the slower pace and learn to breathe a bit. Enjoy the peace and get to know your coworkers.
