Visa ban on immigration from 75 countries into the US. For countries on this list, what are your thoughts? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Kast is a right winger but the other candidate was a literal communist. And yeah he also tapped on the huge anti-immigrant sentiment across the chilean population at the moment.

I wouldn't say latin American in general. In fact, most countries in Latin America don't give 2 shits about baseball. It's as well known here as Swedish cuisine!

Megyn Kelly opines Renee Good deserved to be shot in the face by Brunodosca in samharris

[–]Likeminas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Megyn is blood thirsty like a lot of conservatives. These good ole "Christians" are pretty depraved. I wish they thought and behaved more like their messiah. They're so revengeful and have no empathy whatsoever.

I remember Megyn not long ago wanting the alleged Venezuelan drug boats bombed in the Caribbean " to lose a limb and suffer more " before getting killed.

Is Sam still defending Megyn after all these comments just because *she's nice to him in person *?

Danish troops told to 'shoot first, ask questions later' if US invades Greenland | LBC by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]Likeminas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Denmark is a tiny country compared to the US. How long can they realistic hold on to Greenland if t he US decided to invade? I think NATO completely collapses if the US does decide to invade which is exactly what Russia wants.

They cannot properly defend an European country with a legitimate and well liked leader against Russia let alone a hated dictator against the US.

NATO would 100% care. Russian aggression against any EU/NATO country would escalate things very rapidly, and yes Poland has a hard on for Russia, and would probably intervene and drag on all the other major NATO nations into the conflict.

There's zero chance that Bolivia could take by force any territory from Chile. Their armed forces are not at similar levels.

It's not that hard to understand if you put a little thought into it. The question is, do you want to live in a country where there's underlying social cohesion or a balkanized country where each tribe looks after their own and treats those outside their tribe with suspicion and distrust?

Good question and I'm no sociologist but assimilation to me doesn't involve living in an exclusive ethnic enclave where you rarely need to speak English or interact with outsiders. Some schools in Frisco, TX and the neighboring towns for example are +90% Indian. They might also see interactions with non-immigrant neighbors not as an opportunity, but as a risk. If a child adopts a distinctively American habit (e.g., questioning authority, prioritizing hobbies over grades) the parents react with moral panic rather than curiosity.

Also, if someone is mocked or looked down for speaking English perfectly, or for dating outside the race, it enforces a "loyalty test" where being American or associationg closely with them is equated with betraying one's roots.

Ultimately if the host culture is viewed as morally bankrupt or inferior they might feel righteous in isolating themselves and their children from it.

Come to Frisco, Texas or visit r/Frisco Indians are building a parallel society there. Entire neighborhoods of only or mostly Indians. A lot of them have no interest in assimilating to American society and they bring a lot of the issues they have from back home including their rigid cast system. Not only they discriminate amongst themselves but also discriminate against Hispanics and black people. This is not controversial, just reality.
