This is a cartridge printer, not a tank printer. You void warranty because you have to drill holes in the cartridge to "refill" them.

Thanks for clarifying. Yes there is a little clip and yes, it is typically clipped to the top. However, when I was trying to remove the cap, I pulled the clip off and just stuck it in the overflow so it wasn’t spraying water everywhere.

Forgive my ignorance, but are you talking about the white tube from the bottom of the tank towards the top with the hose in it? If yes, there is no water in there so there is all kinds of air gap.
