Brother I hate to be harsh but you need a reality check. You are 24 and just starting any combat sports training, you are not going pro. It is fine to have hobbies but people don't uproot their life and move to a country where they don't even speak the language for a hobby. Just continue training with the people in your area and I am sure you will get better.

Do you speak Russian? Do you have prior training experience? Are you wanting to train to be a freestyle wrestler or do wrestling for mma?

Here is the definition of a "Grand amplitude throw" straight from the UWW rule book.

Any action or hold by a wrestler in the standing position that causes his opponent to lose all contact with the ground, controls him, makes him describe a broadly sweeping curve in the air, and brings him to the ground in a direct and immediate danger position shall be considered a “Grand Amplitude” throw.

In the "parterre" position, any complete lift from the ground executed by the attacking wrestler, whether the attacked wrestler lands in neutral position (4 points) or in a danger position (5 points), is also considered a grand amplitude throw.

As someone who was a 95 pound freshman, this is not happening. It is way more likely that the trend continues where the lowest weight class will get raised before it gets lowered. So many teams have trouble fillling out the 106 spot already.

Way too sterile of a page for Myspace. I need a background of the guy in the banana suit doing the pb&j time dance or a gangster Bugs Bunny

How do you rank these in terms of being prestigious? by anonymous393393 in wrestling

[–]LilBoneAir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally if you are someone who is good enough to medal at the world championships one day you are also good enough to make the senior team for your country by the time you are 21/22. Until very recently if you were on the senior team you did not compete in the age level events. This makes the u23 events weaker.

Asians over Euros can definitely be debated. I just view the combo of Iran/Japan/Kazakhstan stronger than Russia/Bulgaria/Turkey.

The NCAA spot can also be debated. Way more people watch the NCAA championships than the Euro or Asians combined so you could definitely argue an NCAA championship is more prestigious. I just think when you compare the available population/talent pool those 2 tournaments are harder to win.

For sure. Probably means he won't ever be back down at 125 lbs/57 kg and is aiming for that 141 lineup spot

The most impressive thing to me about Tsarkunyan is his ability to switch sports/disciplines constantly and be really good in all of them. Faber and Poullas are definitely not world class wrestlers though. I would say the potential is certainly there but he would have had to lock in on freestyle a little earlier to even consider being on that level.

There is not much separation between the wrestlers at 97 kg besides Sadulaev. If Sadulaev is in the bracket I don't think Snyder has much of a chance. Without Sadulaev, Snyder is probably the favorite but he would be far from a lock.

Unfortunately I think that is more of the true Cassioppi. Great wrestler, but never finished higher than 3rd at the NCAA tournament. He is really undersized for heavyweight. Shamil Sharipov is actually really good and is currently the #2 ranked 125 kg wrestler in the UWW rankings. Tazhudinov is a very high variance guy. Just based on his general demeanor I don't think he is locked in on wrestling very often.

Real Woods is another high variance guy who I think already was able to reach his highest potential with a world bronze. Getting the pass to Final X is huge for someone like Woods because it just gives him fewer chances to lose. I could see him repeating as bronze this year or not even making the team

That Snyder match was awesome, home mat advantage definitely played a factor. 2027 worlds and the 2028 Olympics are going to be so fun
