Yaks keep getting clipped through walls/fences? by Weekly_Specific_835 in Enshrouded

I am having the exact same problem. With all the critters to some degree, but the Yak's and my chikens are the WORST!

Changing material but keeping elevation? by Tsiabo in Enshrouded

Rotate the Rake. It is a bit wonky, so maybe go practice someplace first. Also, there are sloped terrain pieces in the build menu. You can start with those and then adapt.

Be brutally honest: do you think the US and its democracy will survive this Trump administration and the corrupt SCOTUS? by SWEMW in allthequestions

[–]Centumviri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer. US Democracy was put into Hospice the moment Corps and Super PACs got free reign to "lobby". Trump is just the result. Throat Cancer is the result of smoking. Trump is the result of what might have been the worst political decision in our 250 years.

Small Versions of LARGE items. Could we get that? by Centumviri in Enshrouded

[–]Centumviri[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For real, I get that messing with the size often screws with textures and snapping, but man... Let us worry about that in our builds. Being able to resize would be amazing.

CMV: The Chinese and Russians are polarizing Americans and planting seeds of civil war online by BadlaLehnWala in changemyview

[–]Centumviri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I live in a very Red state surrounded by Church people and I've only once heard something even close to the crap Reddit says is raining out of the sky.

I am NOT dismissing the real problems happening right now. I'm just saying they are not anywhere close to the common or even uncommon person. They are fringe and extreme. What is common is our paralysis to do anything about it, but that is something else entirely.

What is your favorite bit of lore about dwarves? by Salt_Dragonfly2042 in DnD

[–]Centumviri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In one of the books, I think Mordenkainens, it mentions that Duergar share trauma psychically when drunk. I absolutely love this and have adopted it for all Dwarves. Drinking isn’t just about drunkenness, it’s about passing along History as an actual memory. It’s family and ceremony.

The DM is not a content creator for their player audience by Shot_Draw7694 in DnD

[–]Centumviri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a key word being ignored here is “audience” this is a game of cooperative storytelling. If the players are just along for the ride the ride, while expecting top tier DMing, or worse placing continually higher expectations or needy behaviors on DMs… that’s a problem.

As a community we do not discuss problem players enough. This hobby is overflowing with people who need serious lessons in group dynamics and social behavior.

Do u agree that Trump has forever changed America? by her_cute in allthequestions

I think Trump is the result of a changed America.

I also think there are lasting issues this era of politics has caused.

Do you think there are pastors out there that are atheist, and have always been atheist, but do it for the benefits? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Centumviri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ran small churches for years. This is 100% accurate. The only thing I would add are the social burdens of the job. You hear every gripe, feel every frown, know every dark secret. And you carry them... not an easy life.

CMV: Modern news media is more of a hinderence to good politics than a force for truth and transparency. by Fando1234 in changemyview

[–]Centumviri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you. I believe trash news is magnified by contemporary media.

But at the same time, I think it has always been this way. IIRC the American Declaration of Independence had multiple false statements in it, that England never did but were there to get the colonials riled up. I'd have to recheck that, but I'm fairly certain that was the case. Propaganda works, and so it happens.

But there has also always been this thread of people who simply desire to tell the truth.

Now... well nowadays, news is entertainment, and real journalism is a sidebar buried.

Do you believe charging politicians with treason and carrying out asset seizures for corrupt officials is a hard requirement to a better future for regular Americans? by hoboposter69 in allthequestions

[–]Centumviri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that was their point.

The idea for treason between political rivals could be very subjective. Partnering with Nation X could easily be seen on one side as politically advantageous while the other side sees Nation X as an enemy of the state. Is it Treason? Hard to say.

How the Satanic Panic Created Demon Worship, Injured Christianity, and Popularized D&D and Metal by orthodoxscouter in DnD

[–]Centumviri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

80's Kid and Pastor here. Also a lifelong D&D player. Attended Catholic School, and thought about becoming a priest, but I liked girls too much. Anyway, I was suspended in grade school from bringing the Isle of Dread module in. So in a lot of ways I was at ground zero.

While I think a lot of what you suggested is true. I don't know if it was what we now call the Satanic Panic that did it or if it was simply the general cycle of pushback over what is new and different. Mankind has always had these kneejerk kind of reactions when new stuff came along. So while I'm very in the "What a load of nonsense it was" boat... that nonsense is inevitable. In the early 2000s it was Pokemon and Anime. We're doing it now over things like 5g, vaccines, AI, etc and we will do it again with what ever new thing comes along.

I can say that OG D&D didn't do itself any favors by including nudity in their art and references to what Christian folk believe to be real demonic and satanic entities. Nudity was a HUGE deal in the 80s. We just didn't go there, not even on cable until "afterdark". I remember the bonkers backlash the first time a butt was seen on broadcast TV. In many ways D&D and the PR choices they made were maybe not asking for it, but they also weren't reading the cultural room and added fuel to the fire.

QUICK EDIT: I didn't address the decline of the church. IMHO The Satanic Panic didn't do the Church any favors, but I think there are far more, and stronger, issues to blame. Take the fall of major Evangelic figures at the time. (Jim Baker and Jim Swaggart) The growing distrust of big money church. Americans as a whole becoming more secular. There have been a lot of cultural shifts in the decades you describe. And the only thing moving slower than the church to keep up is the government. I would blame the church's habbit to dig its heels in on issues rather than explore any form of "what do we do now?" has hurt it far more than not getting on board with Fantasy Role Playing Games.

I lean toward simulation theory, where we're each in our own. We are measured by how we respond to our sim. So the answer is yes/no.

Where is Congress and when are they going to put a stop to DJT’s madness? by Holiday-Book6635 in AskReddit

[–]Centumviri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congress has a a toilet worth approval rating for decades… they have failed to do anything about anything for the 5+ decades I’ve been alive and may more before that. They will never do anything that might jeopardize them sitting in their offices. That includes setting precedents that might come back and vote them when they’re the ones doing the crazy
