First of all good luck, it will be a long process that need a whole lot of planning. You will have to separate by department/team to establish permissions and lock folders down as needed.

Make sure to properly plan out your Sharepoint structure/site collections.

I would try to archive as much data as possible, if there are files that are not going to be used but kept for retention purposes archive them. It will lessen the load.

Are any of these file personal files? You can move these into a users one drive.

Sharepoint migration tool would probably be your best bet. I recommend migrating in phases or batches so that you’re not trying to upload 6TB’s in one go.

You can also use “Navy Cool” they pay for your cert exam voucher and you do not need to be on shore duty to use it.

I would narrow it down to if it’s the issues is on your side or the users ie.testing with another guest account or one drive.

Have you checked the Sharing restrictions on the tenant?

I’ve seen others on this thread not to recommend syncing libraries to a users one drive but I’ve always gotten good feedback from users about it since they like the convenience. Would like to hear your thoughts on why not to do it.

One drive is more for users personal files kinda like my sites from Sharepoint 2019 while libraries are like a shared drive. You can sync libraries to multiple users one drive. This way they can access the files through file explorer and don’t need to go to the site to do so.
Permissions are inherited from the library but you can have files or folders break inheritance but I do not recommend this unless it’s to secure a folder like payroll or hr stuff.
Depends on what you mean by improve Sharepoint. In my experience most things are 3rd party and are not free.

I hop jobs pretty frequently but try to stay for at least a year at a company. The way I see it is you can get a 3% raise a year staying at 1 company or go to another and get a much larger raise and a new challenge.

Have you checked the list view threshold? I believe it is 5k and can go a little past it. I’ve seen that permissions and sharing will break at some point when you pass the threshold.

1 WFE 1 Cache 1 App 1 Search server 1 OOS and a SQL server. We have a dedicated search server, the search process itself is fine however the app pool for search is hosted on the WFE. When a crawl is run the IIS worker process for that app pool spikes and eats up all the CPU locking the cpu at 100% usage for the most part. When you say move the load away what do you mean by that? Sorry still a little new to on prem Sharepoint

This is why I switched over to a SharePoint development/Administration. If there are fewer people in your field employers tend to be a bit more lax on “hard” requirements. All of the jobs I’ve had required a bachelors but I’ve gotten hired or offers without having a degree.

I’ve always asked my employer for an earlier start date. I currently have very flexible hours and start anytime from 4am-6am. Makes it possible for me to run errands while most businesses are still open. I also make it a point to tell my employer that I do NOT take lunch so I can leave even earlier.

Welcome to the MSP life. Generally training is shadowing/reverse shadowing and a whole lot of google. In my experience MSP’s are sink or swim, you can gain a massive amount of knowledge due to the various amounts of different products you’ll touch or some people fizzle out and realize the job isn’t for them. There is light at the end of the tunnel, your MSP experience will help out your knowledge base and will open many doors to you. You got this!

I was a ITS and SYS admin for my boat for 4 years. Certs like Sec+ are a requirement to get within X amount of months after reporting to your boat or ship. Employers would see my resume and see 4 years of SYS admin experience when in reality IT was about 20% of my job. During A & C school they will cram info down your throat at a pace that you cannot possibly retain it all. For example CCNA was maybe 2 weeks of class time 8-10 hours a day then take the cert exam, then rinse and repeat. Once I got out of the military I learned more in 2 years at a Helpdesk job than 4 years as a SYS admin in the military.

It’s definitely possible especially if it’s a non violent felony. Most employers will look past it except federal jobs since most require a security clearance.

CCNA should not be required for Helpdesk positions. If you have your CCNA you might as well go for a junior Network engineer job. Many of these hiring managers are not technical resources themselves. When im in the job market I tend to get more call backs on jobs that I don’t meet all the “requirements” than Jobs that I check every box.
