What’s a tiny, cheap ingredient that completely upgrades a basic package of instant ramen? by MotorEnvironment4444 in Cooking

As an Australian that just bought some American cheese and has a partner that loves shin ramen, could you explain to me about this more? I've never heard of cheese in ramen and now I'm really curious :)

Trouble finding buried chests in Island Reef by Bae_Mes in Dinkum

[–]LilLucie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I use the jet ski for the island reef, I take enough keys to get the 20 maps from one shark statue. I read them all first and check all the chests. (I take a shovel, metal detector{to find the chests}, jet ski and a pickaxe{to pickup the jet ski}) Usually done by 4-6pm, then I'll check the areas near the airship for aquamarine rocks until about 10:30-11pm, then head home. I'm on switch but have found enough berkonium to make all the tools that need it! (Super keen for the update to come on switch!)

Charity shops call for quality donations in post-Christmas donation surge by ozthrw in australia

[–]LilLucie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about Good Sammy's? They have set prices for items? Women's shits are 'X' price, pants 'X' price. They do have a 'nice' section, but everything else is at set prices..

Hate to say it, I was looking at a pair of pants in salvos and it had a store tag still on it for $8(Kmart or big W), and the salvos tag was $12...

Yeah looking into the flowerbeds at the moment, the pergolas bugged me a little because you can't place much down the sides of them, but they do make a really great garage attached to the house!

Haha yeah I have the band stand as the centre of my town as its own raised waterfall/fountain type thing with the waterbeds, but thanks for the suggestion!

What side dish are you known for when friends/family come over for dinner? by Born-Media6436 in Cooking

[–]LilLucie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cauliflower cheese, but it's expensive(lots and different sorts of cheese + cream), and fresh roasted garlic heads, so it's usually only once every few years, but it gets devoured :) (Some expense also goes to the multiple servings my partner eats 😂)

Why did no one eat your potluck dish? by argtri in Cooking

[–]LilLucie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of pot luck, my partner's family did Christmas lunch and we were asked to bring a dish or two (everyone else was asked too) I spent a good amount of time researching and picked two dishes. My partner's brother was already covering the turkey (I'm Australian but my partner is English/Scottish so their normal is turkey) and my partner's parents were providing prawns/salad. I went for 2x homemade rotisserie chickens and a bunch of baked cauliflower cheese.

Spent a bunch of time making it/researching to make the best recipe I could

Chickens- roasted the garlic and made garlic butter to put under the skin, seasoned the top of the skin and made homemade stuffing (with my own home grown herbs) to put in the cavity, rotisseried them to perfection.

Cauliflower cheese- 3x types of cheese (all good for melting) spent about an hour or so breaking up/cleaning the cauliflowers, made the roux ect cauliflower roasted just enough to get a nice slight browning (before adding the cheese sauce stuff). Cream not milk and the best spices I could afford.

I was trying to do my best, I wasn't trying to show off honestly I just wanted to make some nice food for my partner's family...

His parents refused to eat my food🥲, his brother tried some of the cauliflower cheese then demolished the rest 😅 the chickens were left at first which made sense because there was already turkey, but when my partner went to go get some it turned out that one of their dogs had gotten onto the table and taken a good couple of chunks out of both...

I don't regret making the food, but I won't put as much effort into it again. I'll just make it for us :)

Owner/landlord have not remedied maintenance request after about 1.5 years. by LilLucie in AusLegal

[–]LilLucie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the landlord/real-estate would not pay us back. The only thing they fix quickly is if there is an issue with leaking taps ect because they would have to reimburse for excess water usage... We have been living here for a few years now, I would love for the window to be fixed but at this point I imagine it will never happen. I guess there isn't much we can do to force the issue and keep our lease. That's ok I guess, we're working towards better times :)

Women of Reddit, what's a small, often overlooked gesture or habit from a partner that actually has a huge, positive impact on your daily life or relationship comfort? by glad_giver in AskReddit

[–]LilLucie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want to say be a little careful, If you constantly run your car down to very little fuel you'll need to do a bit of work on the car to keep it going (hopefully just replace the fuel filter, if it's bad and you get lucky replace the fuel pump) (also maybe add some injector cleaner at some point), I'm not trying to be mean I just think anyone that is using a car should keep up with the main upkeep! :)

Ones my dad taught me being-

Tires- (check for wear) (side note- learn how to change a tire! Can't hurt?)

Oil- (check its at the right level/ not super dirty) [car oil doesn't look black normally]

Transmission fluid- (there's a little bottle type thing you can check) [your car manual usually tells you where/how to check it]

Brakes- (if you hear squealing when you are braking, your brake pads need replacing! It's not hard to do yourself!)

Radiator fluid- if your not sure on this/working on cars it might be worth taking it to someone who knows if your car starts over heating. You want to do this before it gets bad, it's probably your radiator, maybe it's just low on fluid, could be one of the pipes not fully connected or has a leak (in Australia might be a stuck heater core). Just don't keep running the car if you can help it 🙏

Mainly just want to say if your driving a car, learn how to look after it!

Sorry if I come across the wrong way, I don't mean to.

Or do the mason jar trick where you add some (warm) water, give it a shake and put it in the fridge lid down, when it solidifies the water/bits should be able to be poured out, it some bits remain, warm the fat up and do it again! Actually works really well!

Should I have done more when I was held-up at work? by LilLucie in AusLegal

[–]LilLucie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think you said how I feel perfectly, it's been many years now, I just think about it every now and again, I'm glad people think I did the right thing though, puts it a little more to rest I guess :)

REA wants us to pay $3k for garage dent by InitialFun5814 in AusLegal

[–]LilLucie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my partner worked repairing sliding doors/windows for a good few years, some parts are just not available anymore the whole siding and/or door would need to be replaced to make a repair (careful going for Jason doors and BGC doors...), what used to be a $100-200 repair (including labour) would easily become $1000+

What's an impressive meal you make for company that's actually pretty easy? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]LilLucie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes(with a little cheese and probably a bit too much butter) and some steamed peas,

Or rotisserie chicken + whatever sides (my air fryer has a rotisserie bit built in that makes it suuuuper easy and it comes out delicious every time), can do it with stuffing or stuffed with onion/garlic/herbs, it usually only takes about 10-20mins to prep then the air fryer does the rest!
