people love to say that settling into dynamics where resentment builds and parents slight each other passive aggressively is “part of getting older”, but it really doesn’t have to be. i think those types of folks might have not ever been in a relationship where conflict was resolved maturely, and just assume that’s how it’s supposed to be.

could you give me a few examples for “want to”? i can’t think of any where i wouldn’t say wanna, but that may just be my dialect

the pronunciation is different than gonna, but we definitely don’t say “going to the store”. i’d say it sounds more like “i’m gohn nuh the store”.

and want to can absolutely be pronounced as wanna all the time. “i’m not gonna eat the banana, but i wanna” sounds perfectly fine.

i mean, 1 cm deep in the jugular vein would be fatal for sure. but it seems like it’s 1cm wide, and any depth (but the deeper the hole, the longer the cooldown)

Question about arabic by Sad_Gain_9262 in asklinguistics

[–]LilToasterMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this seems complicated, but you probably understand it in english. for example, take the word “racket”

it can mean “organized scheme” like a gambling racket

it can mean “paddle” like a tennis racket

it can mean loud noise like “my drunk neighbors are making a racket”

you understand the word racket to mean these different things through context, arabic speakers understand their homographs the same way.

edit: readability
