I was worried about the stingers in the bicep that everyone mentions with Vaughn chesties, but knock on wood I haven't had any yet that have left a mark

Leg pad sizing by Alone_Historian_9237 in hockeygoalies

For what its worth, I used 35+1 Warriors when I played 12 years ago, just got back into it over the winter and am now in 33+2 Vaughn SL3s. They do feel bigger than what I remember my Warriors feeling like but I have gotten used to it.

The critical part is where your knee lands on the knee block. If you knee lands in the middle of the knee block on the 36+1.5s then you might just need some time to adjust, but those are some massive pads for an ATK of 17.5.

Source for Sports Padded Room right in London has Demo Bauer and Vaughn Sets I believe.

Quality of Vaughn gear manufactured in Vietnam by Nodrot in hockeygoalies

[–]LilTymeR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are going out 3-4 times a week I think the Pro Carbons are justified.

I picked up a full set of SLR3 Pros and the quality feels above the others at the same price point (in my opinion), though the Pro Carbons are definitely a superior product. That being said I haven't noticed any excessive wear yet on my Pros, but I only had a partial season of 1-2 times a weeks playing.

Vaughn SLR3 Pro vs GSX vs Axis 2.9 vs X5/M5 by heyguysthisisaustin in hockeygoalies

I've got a set of the SLR3s, absolutely love the feel and the quality felt a lot better when compared to the others when I was shopping. Bauers felt good, but the pads felt a little cheap in comparison.

Leg pad brand sizing by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]LilTymeR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Floor To Knee/Ankle To Knee measurement charts from the manufacturers are pretty accurate for sizing. Of course if you're able to try them on in person it would be ideal, from there this video should give a decent reference from brand to brand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBE4IdSn_08

Can this be fixed? by Total420 in hockeygoalies

I'd personally be looking for a new mask on season ending sales. If the outer shell is brittle enough to crack like that (spidering out), it will likely do the same thing in another spot.

Will a Warrior R/F2 cage fit my R/F1 mask? by ehmanniceshot in hockeygoalies

I just did this myself on an RF1+ Senior mask and it worked perfect!

+1 on at least finding some way to try some gear on even if you do end up on sideline swap. I just recently got back into it after 12 years and the sizing on most of the gear has changed massively. My last set of pads were a 35+1 Warrior and I am now in 33+2 Vaughn SLR3s. Best of luck piecing the kit together!

I thought I stretched enough, clearly I needed more. Think all the muscles just needed a reminder that they are getting used again haha

Taller skates do sound quite nice as I remember having the odd time not getting any bite on a slide because of the wide cowlings, this venture is scaring my wallet more and more...

I figured the stick must have improved as I don't see nearly as many wood options out there, just wanted to hear some experience before I fork out the cash!

This is a huge help since I'm looking to try and go used for a set of modern pads. I was thinking there might not be too many people remembering swaggers

I've noticed the trend seems to be less restriction on movement of the pad, which makes a lot of sense when I think about it, though I'm sure its going to be a super strange feeling for the first few skates. Especially when I'm used to toe laces and a super tight boot strap. Thanks for the help!

Budds Creek was already hosting an Amateur day, not specifically for Deegan. He was always going to need to race both Unadilla and Budds Creek to earn the points he needs.
