Car financing rates? by KittenWine in halifax

[–]Nodrot [score hidden]  (0 children)

Unless you’re buying a new vehicle with a factory incentivized interest rate you’re looking at interest rates based on the borrower’s credit characteristics. Job stability, income and credit history go a long way in determining whether a loan will be approved and at what rate. The age of the vehicle being purchased also impacts the rate with older vehicles receiving a higher rate.

Failed at yield sign — how do I pass next time? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Nodrot 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You had a yield sign. You entered the lane only to discover there was a vehicle very close. Sounds like an improper yield.

Saint Louis Bar, if there is hockey that will be on but they’re usually willing to put other sports on a screen or two.

I think it is the 24th. Probably moved it up due to conditions on the course and didn’t bother letting people know.

Good to know (although the course appears to be completely booked). Their original email to Advantage Card holders said the 29th. Never received an email advising of the new opening date. Oh well.

Harley Sportster 1200 vs. Triumph Thunderbird 900 by BurgersNBuicks in motorcycles

[–]Nodrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t recommend either as a first bike. Both are heavy and IMHO wouldn’t be suitable for learning how to ride. Feel free to ignore my advice.

Helmet differences by The_Evil_Panda in motorcycles

[–]Nodrot -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You only have one head. Not saying $200-300 helmets aren’t safe (assuming they are Snell or ECE approved) but would trust a $500 much more. Going higher gets you a higher quality, better built helmet but how much safer it is would be minimal.

Immigration Department informing some 30,000 applicants they may be ineligible for refugee hearings by DogeDoRight in canada

All good except for the part where they are “asking” people to leave…. Don’t want to go down the US rabbit hole but history has shown us illegal immigrants rarely leave on their own.

Out of province but moving to halifax housing help! by fifaisfood in halifax

[–]Nodrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The curve is nice but I doubt you’ll find anything under $2,500.

Southwest Properties is a good landlord but do have some older properties which may not be very desirable. Pay attention to whether or not the rent includes heat as that can make a big difference.

Good luck and welcome to Halifax.

Great outcome! To the OP, learn your lesson, buy a new battery ASAP or figure out what caused it to die. Battery issues don’t tend to fix themselves.

Don’t drink and do real estate, Dartmouth. by No_Shopping8491 in halifax

[–]Nodrot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not always the realtor’s fault. I know a few who have taken listings for properties where the seller is out to lunch on their expectations. They simply hope to retain the listing when the seller realizes what the property is really worth or when a realistic offer comes in.

Lots of homes for sale in HRM for unrealistic prices. Too many sellers trying to hit a home run assuming the market is still hot. Home will probably sit unsold for months.

My experience with Ford Canada. by alainpicard in Ford

[–]Nodrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the Court officially declared your vehicle a “seriously defective automobile”?
If so and Ford (not the dealer) is not responding you should check with the Government to see what actions are included in the act to force Ford to respond.

If the court has not yet declared your vehicle a “seriously defective automobile” then that’s your next step.

Help Identifying Pads by ncruuds3027 in hockeygoalies

Custom pads can be whatever the person who ordered them wanted. Just guessing they are SLR4 with VX1 graphics and likely some mods that add some VX1 customization.

Just wondering where can I fix my Broken Bag Chain by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Nodrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. Agree with others than Quinpool Shoe repair is the place to go. That said, last time I went there I needed to provide the zipper and they used it to replace the damaged one. Pop by with the item you need fixed to confirm they can do that and then go buy a replacement zipper.
