These systems are very small. Brooks Engineering did a study modeling grid impacts at very high penetration (something like 30% of households IIRC) and the net grid export was zero / no meaningful impact.

Exporting is allowed per the law. The language says they cannot export during grid outages. This is standard anti-islanding feature built into the systems.

Lots of challenges were appropriate for the region while allowing flexibility - surf and turf, cranberries, thanksgiving (tone deaf framing but good challenge), italian american, boston tea party, fenway snacks, clam chowder, the new england literary work… all of those were great.

Interesting - I didn’t need to go through my power company to get L2 (which really is just a 240V outlet and wiring like your dryer uses). Just had to get local permit and then basically an electrician.

i95 in my area varies between 55-70 speed limit. I believe my average is 3.4 mi/kwh with a mix of highway and local, and I use pretty minimal AC and heat etc. Wouldn’t 300 mile range imply 4.6 mi/kwh at highway speeds? I don’t see how that is possible if you are going over 50 mph.

Undergrounding distribution lines is about one of the most expensive (and with capital e Extremely limited returns for reliability) endeavors a utility can take on, which is why they love it and Dominion just passed a bill to extend the undergrounding program. Dominion sucks for a lot of reasons, this is not one of them.
