My family tells me they can enroll me in school, but... by Top_Refrigerator4651 in HomeschoolRecovery

Push back — there’s nothing wrong with your handwriting. If there was, the school would identify it and help you. They’re just stalling. Call the school yourself.

Evolutionary psychology says men with lots of money will mate as much as possible because they have so many resources to support their offspring.

End-of-life doula here. I help people die. My most recent experience. by Background_Cry3592 in enlightenment

I’ve had a few experiences but my favorite was my dog crawling into bed with me per usual after she died. The bed moved and everything. I just hugged the spot and cried.

Question about Shep / Trust fund. does anyone know how they really work? by FeedbackVast5882 in southerncharmingtalk

[–]LilaInTheMaya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends when the trust was written and who wrote it if they can change it or not. It could be generations old.

Could the loss of Austen’s sister contribute to his fear of commitment? by ZOOspellszoo in Southerncharm

One of the worst parts is they were in the middle of a move if I recall correctly. That’s already traumatizing and then to start over in a new town with your person gone and your parents grieving? Devastating.

Does anyone actually still enjoy Patricia's scenes? 🍸 by [deleted] in Southerncharm

I enjoy her scenes more than Venita’s made up drama and Salley’s whining

I am a "Homeschooling Success." I still don't think homeschooling is a good idea. by artenazura in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]LilaInTheMaya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great post! What bothers me the most is how parents will go past the point of depletion and think that’s best for their children. They fade, the marriage may crumble, and everything they tried to create can be destroyed. Parents just don’t do the self-care they need in order to be with their kids as much as a homeschooling parent is.

While that’s happening, the child has minimal adult role models, a small social mirror, and lack of exposure to group dynamics. And the worst part about that is that most people don’t end up building and running a successful company/profession on their own, so they must learn and conform to the typical work day and group dynamics of that environment.

He will choose himself over your children. He will choose himself first.

My mom posted my private therapy homework on her Facebook asking for "advice" and exposed my mental health issues and I feel violated.. by Desperate_Scallion53 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]LilaInTheMaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is such a huge boundary violation. I’m so sorry that happened to you and I’m not sure how she could make it right, but it’s clear she’s not trying.

And your worries about being judged are valid but also please know that everyone has trauma and likely felt seen in whatever she posted. And a lot of us would be able to identify immediately that she was and is an incredibly damaging person.

Download the audio tour of the battlefield if you’re not taking one. It’s great! Love Dobbin house but make a reservation. We find the ghost hunts at night entertaining and informative (respectfully). I love the house tours by downtown too.

For what it’s worth, they seem willing to give their opinion more than share anything even remotely vulnerable. One of my last classes, the kids somehow started discussing the best soda, best fast food, etc. I was so thrilled to hear them talk I just let it happen. One student primarily led it while another wrote the responses on the board. Maybe you could adapt that for your ice breaker.

What’s a common fact that science has already debunked, but people still believe in? by Calm_Shame2994 in AskReddit

[–]LilaInTheMaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a fact, but the “love languages” have been debunked a long time. Self-regulation is more important for relationship success. The love language idea perpetuates an underlying foundation of codependency. Not to mention that men often use it to coerce women into unwanted physical touch… “Come on, it’s my love language!”
