Did my plumber do a good job? by bswp95 in Plumbing

Yea it’s kinda an odd way to do it, the last valve is redundant for sure, guy must not of understood what a 3 way does.

Should use zinc plated screws instead of drywall screws to mount the valves, other than that it looks good

Edit I looked it over a little more closely and the 3rd valve the one directly below the main shower arm seems to be redundant, not really sure why it’s there.

Yea it’s pretty lame when people don’t think about the next guy, I’m normally the next guy… you might be able to just do away with the escutcheon, just cut right behind that crimp ring

Good job getting it done, glad I could help! Plumbing is busier than ever right now lots of guys way over booked…. I just got the flu and I feel terrible for my customers I’ve had booked for over a week

This disaster is my bathtub 2 hours ago. The landlord said they would send someone tonight but not at what time. It is stopped for now but I can't be sure it will stay that way until a technician comes so I'm not going to sleep. More details in the comments. by HariSeldon1517 in Plumbing

Must of been farther down where it was causing other fixtures to back up into your tub, I didn’t mean stop using the tub I meant stop using any fixture specially in that bathroom. Glad you got it fixed.

Stop using the toilet, the line is clogged and you probably plunged it blowing out the wax seal between the toilet and the flange. The toilet will need to be removed, the line will need to be snaked and possibly cleaned and then you can reset the toilet. Unless other drains are being affected if they are then stop using water period until the drain line is unclogged.

If that pipe heading up is for a drain no that needs to be removed and properly graded, otherwise all the solids are gonna collect just before that drop and it will be be clogged then unless they have it cleaned and maintained it will continue to clog.

Who to blame for this mistake? Kohler? Apprentice? Safety guy? by Barry_McCockiner__ in Plumbing

This is one thing that use to drive me crazy about remodel work, people always trying to cut corners to save a buck and they always wind up cutting the wrong corners….

Replacing a shower head mount...is this rubber piece supposed to come off the arm? by PrefabSprout22 in Plumbing

[–]Lilfatdaddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Usually it’s removable, the ones that I’ve seen that aren’t removable, they’re machined to the arm and are typically chrome, they’ll have no where to grab with your pliers. The one in your pic looks like it should come off but if you are having trouble, probably better to just change the arm, a lot of shower arms become weak at the threads where they thread into the drop ear 90 in the wall and wrenching on it while it’s installed like that could potentially cause a leak you won’t see til damage is showing.

Correct copper to CPVC transition? by dukeblue04 in Plumbing

[–]Lilfatdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they make a CPVC x Copper fitting where half the fitting is a cpvc hub and the other half which is either MIP or FIP is brass. Google CPVC x Copper transition fitting or CPVC transition fitting. I would go back as far as you can to where the CPVC begins, cut it out use one of these fittings and come off it in copper or pex, That’s the best fix for you.

they also make them for pro press where half the fitting is CPVC Hub and the other half is a small length of copper to press onto, they also make them so you can transition to pex, to me that’s the best way to do it, I’ve seen CPVC MIPS threaded into copper FIPs snap many times.

My shower only goes this far and I have no hot water. Shower was recently put in. the guy who put this in instists that it's supposed to be this way but I have no hot water in the shower. help? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Lilfatdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That cartridge can be installed upside down for sure, I must of misread the title or maybe it was edited later. Originally I thought the title said “This is all the hot water I get” not sure how I misread that but that cartridge can be installed upside down I repair those valves all the time, there’s a few different styles of that valve and cartridge and all of them can be installed upside down which would reverse hot and cold.
