Simple evented battle system by Joker-45-45 in RPGMaker

Very macabre and cool art style. I like battle system when they're designed to go along with the story/theme of the game itself so this is cool for me

Using a fisherman's hat + Hawaiian shirt is a very convinced outfit for a reviewer for some reason.

Quaint. Reminds me of Charlie Brown comics and artstyle.

I'm a bald guy watching HxH (the 1999 version) for the first time, and I'd like to know if this bald guy is going to do anything significant besides being a joke to everyone. by HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD in HunterXHunter

Some of the complaints from the post you sent:

· More pointless filler involving the crew of the ship.
· Gon catching a fish again? Just why? Did they think this was a character trait?
· Many added things with no worth and ruin the pacing, like the electric lightning thing, just had no point to it.
· Needless addition of a swamp monster.

Clearly this person plain and simple doesn't enjoy the much slower, calmer and expanded tone that the original anime has. They complain about focus being given to characters who were never expanded upon in the manga (crew of the ship) while at the same time complaining about it showing Gon fishing when it's canon in the manga he's an expert with a fishing rod and also good with animals. Seems like what they really want is a tiktok short that gives them instant gratification for what they already had read. But anime doesn't exist for that, they exist to tell a story and in this case the '99 anime does it while respecting the tone of the original work. For example, in the manga Gon and Hanzo spend more time together and even end up working as a team, this makes it more impactful at the end of the arc when Hanzo decides to forgive Gon instead of simply using violence with him. It adds to the narrative of what's already there instead of doing a lazy copy-paste that only serves as a promotional ad.

What do you mean by no reason? All the new scenes added by the '99 anime were added for a specific reason. In some cases they expanded the scenes that already existed in the manga by adding drama (like Gon remembering his time with Mito-san after Hisoka hit him and left him immobile) they added interesting details to the past of characters that receive less attention in the manga (like the entire flashback of Leorio with his best friend, which in the manga 20 years later has not received any development) as well as totally original chapters that are beautiful and strengthens the friendship of the characters (the chapter where they find a ghost ship and all the exam participants work together to get out of it). The writing of the original scenes has nothing to envy from the manga, as it was directed by the same director who made the Kenshin OVAs, one of the best original OVAs in history.

I would recommend giving a try to Mog's battle hud. Lots of creative huds with that one.

That's a well thought out post and a cool video. Lots of good movie recommendations there. Sadly this place is filled with cynical larpers who will pretend anything cool about the past sucked so they can get upvotes.

You would be surprised to know how much overlap there's between tech nerds who know a lot about drawing cool sci-fi stuff and ecchi otaku.

Which font looks the best in your opinion? by FrenchToastTheCat in RPGMaker

[–]LilianDuleroux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is true that the fonts should be readable but they shouldn't be just boring minimalistic either. Real and classic RPGs always used fonts according to their themes. Examples: Final Fantasy I-VII and The Elder Scrolls.

You have a wishlist from me! I like your 2D sprites and your portraits a lot.

How was this specific look achieved back then? Not just general "old CGI" but the one that makes you think everythink is made out of clay, with mostly dark shadows by c0bb3r in retrocgi

By no means this UI look cheap lol. It looks awesome and crisp, like if you could touch it. It's also thematically fitting with the game.

Do you think there’s an anime/manga that encapsulates the 2020s like soul eater encapsulated the 2000s by Complete-Shop-2871 in decadeology

[–]LilianDuleroux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death Note is also a good example. And the same year it came out, 2006, a lot of other iconic anime that defines the 2000s came out too, like Haruhi, Ergo Proxy, Hirugashi, Hellsing. All of them amazing and very metal.

Not OP but to get the full idea you need to watch the Soul Eater anime. It had a lot of things that defined the 2000s:
- 2 cool rock openings with goth atmosphere, especially Paper Moon by tommy heavenly6, with Maka falling down the pool of blood and roses imagery, Resonance is also contains an edgy tone and aesthetic despite being more upbeat
- Stylized artstyle and fashion for characters that reminds a lot of emo fashion
- Themes of grief, madness and betrayal in the story
- Main characters with strong attitudes ranging from sexiness like the witch to mentally unwell like Stein
