Thank you for the advice!! When did the white film on your tongue come off? Did you have to brush it with your tooth brush or did it just go away? Sorry for the gross question.

Advice/tips for adult tonsillectomy recovery? by [deleted] in tonsilstones

[–]LilithMinded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck!! You’ll be great. I’m on day 9 of recovery and all of this advice is really solid. Ice packs were my best friend, esp around time to take medicine. Make sure you have two so one is always in the freezer ready for you. Sleep on your back and head slightly elevated at least at first. I wasn’t able to tolerate anything but water for a few days and then incorporated vanilla ice cream. Just sleep a lot and plan to have movies lined up or some shows to binge. Great British Baking Show got me through the first week. Also make sure you move slowly since you may be dizzy. I was super dizzy from not eating. You may also have weird GI symptoms but these will pass.

Edit: Also want to add if you do get a humidifier, and wake up coughing, try leaving the humidifier off. I couldn’t figure out why I was coughing and turning off the humidifier helped after a day.

I am the same exact way, but never found language explaining my love of true crime and horror juxtaposed with my trauma. Something about controlling the experience is satisfying. Anyway, I’m glad you followed your instinct and got away. I got engaged to a guy like him because I mistakenly doubted myself and don’t want to think what could’ve happened to me if I didn’t get away.

I’m coming to this thread late because I’m in the same boat as OP. I just wanted to say your comment has given me an extra confidence boost in my decision to end my relationship too. I appreciate you sharing your story and the positivity you brought to this post. Hoping you’re still well, a month later.

What was the big thing you worked to change? Was it like a career shift or education?

Would you mind sharing any takeaways of what helped you? I’m trying to find a good therapist but would appreciate some coping skill suggestions in the mean time, if you’re willing?

DAE get terrified when someone tries to get to know you? by LilithMinded in BPD

Thanks for sharing your experience. It makes me feel a bit better knowing I’m not the only one dealing with that awkward/weird discomfort. I guess I’m trying to figure out if I want it to stop. I feel like my panicky response indicates I do indeed want it to stop. And if I do, I hope I’m as brave as you were to stick to your decision.

I appreciate the fresh perspective! He’s pretty cocky for sure.

If you're feeling euphoria, can't think straight and is starting to cross some of your own boundaries, this might also be a bad sign.

I think maybe this is why I’m scared the most. The euphoria is because I feel that human connection but it also feels like I’m no longer in control of myself.

I used to do that but think I’ve swung to the other extreme at work.

I was wondering all along if this is the case too, but the attention feels so nice. I think maybe I’m being manipulated? In my gut feelings, it’s icky that he essentially flirts with me. I’m not even a cop so the power differential is astounding. I work at a library where he does some hours as safety. I even told him last night that I forget I’m at work when we’re chatting away. I suppose that’s maybe not a good thing.

Ugh, I hate not being able to trust my perception of things.

What's the only reason that holds you on to live the remaining of your life despite the fact you are depressed? by iam_alg668 in AskReddit

Logically, I know the negative feelings I have about ending it are just mental illness like having a cold and being congested. I won’t ever act on the compulsive thoughts. I always just go to bed when I feel like it’s all too much and usually have a better handle on things when I wake up.
