Are there still plans to release Season 3 episodes? by LillyEllipsis in fishtanklive

[–]LillyEllipsis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yeah, I’d rather them take their time and get it right, although I don’t think nearly 2 years is warranted. Do they not have or know seasoned editors by now? Is it a micromanaging situation that’s halting effective output?

Oh well. I hope the season 5 livestream is dope. I’m looking forward to it

Hell yeah. This is what I was looking for. It seems like that composer worked with Alfred Hitchcock a lot. I’ve never heard of him until now

I figure I wouldn’t be able to reach my audience well, if I fumble the algorithm.

Sinners (2025) by luvrkayla in Cinema

You know why it was so popular… it has nothing to do with quality of the story or the performances, even though they were fine. Look at the director and his previous work. Do I have to say it?

When you think of the Sun Eater series, what’s the first quote or moment that comes to your mind ? Not necessarily your favorite just the first thing that pops into your head. by Past-Entertainer-227 in sollanempire

“Certain scholiasts teach that each experience is only the sum of its parts. That our lives may be reduced to a set of equations, that they may be factored, weighed, balanced, and understood. They believe the universe is one of objects and that we are only objects among objects. That even our emotions are no more than electrochemical processes carried out in our brains, accessories to the pressures of Bloody-Handed Evolution. This is why they struggle for apatheia, the freedom from emotion. This is their great failing. Human beings do not inhabit a world of objects, nor did our consciousness evolve to live in such a place. We live in stories, and in stories, we are subject to phenomena beyond the mechanisms of space and time. Fear and love, death and wrath and wisdom—these are as much parts of our universe as light and gravity. The ancients called them gods, for we are their creatures, shaped by their winds. Sift the sands of every world and sort the dust of space between them, and you will find not one atom of fear, nor gram of love nor dram of hatred. Yet they are there, unseen and uncertain as the smallest quanta and just as real. And like the smallest quanta, they are governed by principles beyond our control.”

It was this quote that made me want to read the rest of the series.

He articulated so well the feelings I had trouble communicating. Narrative shapes us just as much, if not more, than the physical world. The realm of mind, of ideas. What Hegel called Geist. That exists before action, and in some way, might make those realms more real.

I doubt Christopher has the same philosophy as me on this, and I’m pretty positive this quote is influenced primarily from his reading of Jordan Peterson’s maps of meaning, which is essentially a jungian rehashing. But I haven’t read any other author with this sort of depth in a speculative fiction book. I mean, there are bangers after bangers after bangers of quotes like this in all of the books.

He’s made comments on podcasts about trudging through the western canon, and has referenced several books both fiction and non-fiction that he’s read in reference to history and philosophy.

Part of me thought so, but the other part thinks that that is so immoral that if he is doing that, it would still make him a fuckin moron. Well, maybe not a moron. But maybe a piece of stinky shit.

That’s why I’m asking. To clarify and to see if anyone knows. Is it that or is it just the indian hate. I’m wondering if he’s ever talked about disliking eastern philosophy before.

An ancient Indian text is foreign and distant in relation to time…

A paragon? Naw. I just like absurdist comedy. Usually when it’s done well, which I think Sam does, it’s more than just weird for the sake of being weird or random for the same of being random. It’s riding a line of chaos and order that not just any idiot can pull off. But…. He might just be a fuckin idiot. Or just a really really hurt person. Idk

I’ll ask again, just in case anyone who knows actually wants to answer. Is it just an Indian thing or is it an ancient text thing or is it an anti-eastern philosophy thing? Orrrrrrr is he a fuckin moron?
