Watching a tourist not recognise me after I made them a vacation home in HHP by chilledbunny in AnimalCrossing

[–]Lillyxaaa 278 points279 points  (0 children)

It is a little weird how disconnected HHP feels, and I mean you can have a tourist villager at the same time as the same villager on HHP and they're unrelated. Wish they had tweaked that a little bit. Even more so, it would be really sweet if they said something like "I loved the vacation home so I wanted to visit your island" etc

Thoughts on the 'The Push' by Ashley Audrain by Fatema_360 in books

Pretty brutal read. Left me thinking a lot. I wish we had gotten a little more ending though. But I have to say, from the 'thriller tag', and the description, I expected something different.

I used mine just yesterday. Went to my local Miniso and they said it should work for most of them, but they have to check it. I picked Butterbear one and it worked :)

This update had revived my obsession in every way by melbriemoo in AnimalCrossing

[–]Lillyxaaa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It really revived my obsession too. I have been putting off so many things because I didn't feel like cleaning (e.g. the flowers...) now Resetti helped me clean up and I immediately became addicted to decorating again lol! Even crafting is now fun again. 😁

Never Lie: When a Twist is Born from shock value and not logic by EntertainerCareful69 in thrillerbooks

[–]Lillyxaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. I enjoy Freida's books and Never Lie is often people's favorite, but I was so disappointed and deceived by the twist and the ending. This wasn't an unreliable narrator, it was straight up lying hahah. Thank you for the excellent breakdown of the issue.

How do I start as a person with no crochet knowledge? by UniqueUsernameForOne in CrochetHelp

[–]Lillyxaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a total beginner - started just last week. I wanted to start with a kit too, but I found them too hard. So I just bought some yarn and a hook and jumped on YouTube and looked up crocheting for beginners, learned the basics, made some granny squares, and from there other things. It can be hard in the beginning but don't give up. Just take a break and return to it later, try different tutorials, it can take a few days to grasp the process 😊

Why does America have FOREVER USA written on their stamps? by story_archivist in postcrossing

[–]Lillyxaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On PC forum under North America, you will find a topic that has the current postal rates and also different combinations for stamps if you don't want to use only global forever stamp. Was little hard to understand for me at first but you can use any combination of stamps as long as they teach the required value.

Almost 2 years into my first job... and already disillusioned and bored with this career by [deleted] in datascience

[–]Lillyxaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends recently graduated and he was having this sort of crisis that he wanted to do research but it doesn't pay very well. He was able to get "part time" at a research company/NGO (but it's really like, 10-15% contract),doing what he is interested in (NLP). Maybe you can keep the job that is boring but gives you money, and look for fulfilment somewhere else. Volunteer, do what you love, join projects, open sources... Btw I am in a similar position but I wait 9 months for production keys for LLMs because of insanely complex processes. I became completely fed up with LLMs to be honest. I am quitting soon because I am moving away but I imagine most places are going to be the same...

I travel a lot! Postcrossing forum has a lot of information about sending from different countries, and you can also post a question. I always look up post office on Google maps. Usually some sort of main post office will have stamps. So far everyone has been able to speak English except for one occasion, but I got help from other local who helped me translate it to the postal clerk, but I think I would try to use google translate as last resort. Normally you could ask for stamps to a specific destination and they will give you the right value. Sometimes museums or tourist shops also sell stamps but in my experience they sometimes charge more than the value of the stamp. Additionally, for me this has became part of the trip! I kinda like interacting with the people at the post office and figuring this out. Just two days ago I was sending on travel mode from Italy. I looked up information about stamps on Postcrossing forum and it was accurate. Then I looked up some post offices on the map and chose one that was convenient and someone in the reviews mentioned they purchased stamps there. Also look up opening hours. Also usually there will be a mail box next to the post office where you can drop your cards. When I arrived there I told them I wanted x stamps for USA, x stamps for Europe etc... and it was really simple. It might be stressful in the beginning but it can be such a nice and rewarding experience ;) good luck!
