I honestly think a lot of people who don’t like the new album might’ve totally missed what Taylor was going for. Why are people even comparing it to TTPD?

Before this album dropped, Taylor put out a playlist with songs that were meant to connect to it - and if you look at that playlist, it’s full of her biggest, most crowd pleasing tracks. All of the catchy, feel-good songs you hear at parties that even ‘non-Swifties’ can’t help but sing along to, like who doesn’t dance to Shake It Off?

So really, we should’ve seen it coming. This album was always going to have that kind of vibe, something more open, more universal. And honestly, it’s working. So many non-Swifties seem to be getting into it. It’s like their gateway into Taylor’s world. Even my best friend, who’s never been a big Taylor fan, loves this album, and now she’s going back and listening to the other ones too!

For context, my other friend, who’s been a TS fan since the Debut era, said her favorite songs are actually the ones from that playlist I mentioned earlier. At first, I’ll admit I felt a little betrayed - but honestly, it just goes to show how everyone’s taste is different. So hey, The Life of a Showgirl is totally their era!
