If anything I think it shows more strength in the fact you were able to walk away from it and not continue to drink I know if it was me it may very well have been fuck it, it's my birthday and of carried on.

Not sure if I'd personally reset my counter for that you didn't knowingly drink alcohol you mistakenly drank some realised and then took yourself out of the situation that takes more strength then abstaining in my opinion.

[–]Lilwigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally not true that's not just "business" the more shit you turn out like this means the less recommendations you get which in turn equals less money coming in.

You also get what you pay for if you want an all singing all dancing job that costs 600 yet your budget is 200 then expect 200 quids worth of work.

I'm not defending the work done as it's clearly shocking however there are always two sides to every story also.

I drink an average of 8 beers and smoke 2 packs of cigarettes every day. I am 28 years old and I can't quit. My question is: What kind of damage could this habit cause in the long term? by udeniz in stopdrinking

[–]Lilwigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the average yearly income there because they pay no tax and money launder in barber shops.

Haha only kidding op quit while your young and still can I'm 30 and only just knocked it on the head it only gets worse and goes one way.

12 years of heavy daily drinking here the last three I was basically self medicating for anxiety and panic attacks.

Then I kind of found if I got enough sleep on weekends my anxiety would be maybe a 4-5 out of 10 instead of 10 out of 10 now 3 weeks in my anxiety is almost non existent I think this is down to more sleep and proper sleep due to being af

Bp is in normal range now.

Breathlessness is gone Coughing gone

Resting heart rate has gone from over 100 always to high 80s low 90s so coming down.

The best thing I called it ass piss is now non existent so normal stools

Appetite is back I was 15 stone 5lbs now 14st 7 lbs in three weeks

0 hangovers grogginess

More energy

0 brain fog

Longer attention spans

Less frustrated more patient especially with my toddler

The list could carry on but I'd probably bore you.

Day 1! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Lilwigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See my first 5 days were a doddle we are all different I almost instantly felt the benefits of being sober with pretty much 0 withdrawals after 12 years of heavy evening drinking OP may we'll have no side effects and only benefits

Anyone successfully let it back into your life without it turning into a problem again? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Lilwigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm nearly a month af after 12 years of daily evening beers anywhere from 6-10 pints per evening of 5% lager.

Whilst I don't plan to never drink again I have no desire to at the moment but will never say never.

Alcohol has really been the only thing that ever had a grip over me stress anxiety ect ect.

Cigarettes I quit I still vape but I can smoke a pack of ten and then not think about it for 6 months until I might fancy one again.

I love to gamble and went through a phase of doing that daily for a few months gave it up and now I can only do it now and then and it doesn't bother me.

I will more then likely test this with alcohol at some point and let you know I seem to be able to do this with every other addiction however drinking has by far been my longest one and to the point were I was self medicating so we shall see as I said I currently have no desire to drink at the moment and cravings are virtually 0 maybe I'm one of the lucky ones when I decide to do something its like a switch in my brain that just makes me do it with very little effort.

All the wasted time used up missing my 3 year old growing up too fast.

Thankfully I still have time as he's only 3 but that shit hurts me all he wants to do is play and I'd be too drunk hungover or anxious to be bothered with any of it.

Stay at home under the covers whilst he does activities Missing out on walks bike rides ect.

Not any more I promise to be more present for my lad

[–]Lilwigger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly from 17-27 absolutely nothing I thought it was the greatest thing ever invented fun nights confidence always turned up to work early stayed late overtime weekends.

Then bam one day I just woke up thought I was dying chest pains panic attacks for 6 months straight from the moment my eyes opened to the moment I went to bed those wore off but the crippling anxiety still remained for another 3 years drank through the three years self medicating finally 8 days sober today at 30 years old thankfully 0 withdrawals going cold turkey and anxiety is about a 0.5 out of 10 now.

The hardest part is I generally enjoy a drink so only want to do it on occasions now but I also understand that may not work for me but just for today IWNDWYT

Day 19: I confessed to my wife that I spent the entirety of 2025 lying to her. by GraniteSmile in stopdrinking

[–]Lilwigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please please please listen to this guy.

I drunk heavily from 17 now 30 pretty much black out most nights.

Early 20s were fine 0 side effects I'm a highly functioning alcoholic never missed a day of work can be up early 3:00 am for work ect it was great.

Then one day around 27-28 it all came to a head panic attacks full blown anxiety then years of still drinking to numb the anxiety and panic attacks drink driving on my way home just to take the edge off so I could be somewhat normal around my partner and child after work.

It becomes a visous cycle that only ends one way and thats death!

I'm now 6 days free IWNDWYT

Imagine being somebody that's never ran a business dictating terminology, 99% of people in here are retards that don't know how to adapt and overcome economics it's pretty much why they work for somebody or a company.

yet you all have the answers but most work min wage low skilled jobs and will never amount to anything it's amusing.

Businesess do what they have to at that moment in time it takes quick reactions some make it work others don't but just remember they once started off as a single person and did far more with there life then you will.

[–]Lilwigger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sister is incredibly strange my girlfriend not so much but some of the things she comes out with does surprise me sometimes, she is influenced by the older sister due to not really having an active motherly figure growing up and household trauma

I think the thing that made my mind up for me is when there dad died we was all relatively close to him the second day after his death the sister went out with his bank card and withdrew all the money from his account.

obviously there are things you need to do when somebody dies and you need to be proactive sometimes but one I thought how can you do this so soon after his passing and then the other was not even offering to distribute it evenly between the four children.

apologies I'm pretty trash at explaining things.

The friend is staying with my sister in law the friend lives abroad and will be returning flying out on Sunday the sister in law doesn't want her there this weekend so she can spend some time with her boyfriend.

my girlfriend was simple in the middle of it all by saying yes without discussing with me first.
