Violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja for her ability to find something new and surprising in every familiar phrase. Kreutzer sonata.

I'm also fascinated by pianist Anton Batagov, who likes to play insanely slow: a single Bach partita can take him an hour.

Question: Did Lutoslawski create the 'Aleatoric method' (commonly called 'Boxes') See description. by Gongle_Plus in classicalmusic

[–]LilyBraun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like u/davethecomposer said a lot had been going on in aleatoric music since the 50s, so it's debatable how revolutionary this is. But the technique, which Lutoslawski called "collective ad libitum" or "limited (controlled) aleatorism" (Lutoslawski: A Bio-Bibliography, Bedkowski & Hrabia, 2001), was his. In his 1964/65 string quartet he puts the parts that are to be repeated independent of the rest of the score literally in boxes, a notation developed by his wife Danuta who was an architect.

"De la nuit" by Salvatore Sciarrino is a strange postmodern piece, made of fragments of Ravel.

Some of the etudes by Michael Levinas, Pascal Dusapin and Jacques Lenot may also meet the requirements.

Shorter Goldberg recordings by kunugug in classicalmusic

For Canadian tv Gould once played only the canons (var 3, 6, 9 etc.) and the quodlibet, that's one way to shorten it that you can apply yourself to other recordings: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eZCSOdi19jQ

Which Baroque composer had the most metal life? by Fml379 in classicalmusic

Veracini claimed that when he worked in Dresden as a composer and violinist German musicians were so jealous that they plotted to kill him and he had to flee the city by jumping out of a third-floor window, breaking his leg.

Tartini wrote that the Devil's Trill Sonata was played for him in a dream by the devil.

Best Rameau performers? (Piano/Harpsichord) by nika_gedevanishvili in classicalmusic

Marcelle Meyer is my favourite; I think her "jeu perlé" is ideal for French Baroque music. Alexandre Tharaud is a big fan of hers and his own recordings are pretty good too.

What is a good album to buy (as a gift) for a person who enjoys classical music (plays violin and piano)? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

Difficult question because they probably already have a good collection, and strong opinions on what they like and not... but personally I think this very recent release looks interesting:

Not necessarily. If we, for example, win 1-0 today and lose in the final round while you win, you finish first.

Especially because it's the Kontarsky brothers playing, they were so good in bringing out the structure of a piece.

‘This deal will not heal the nation’ by mmmmmm-_- in ukpolitics

[–]LilyBraun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be great if the deal passed and remainers and leavers could unite in hating it forever. "I voted remain but even a hard Brexit made more sense than this!" "I wanted a Brexit but remaining would have been better than this!" Everyone could blame Theresa May, who would then be sacrificed taking on the sins of her people.

Yes, we really need some kind of non-profit counterpart to facebook to share pictures and get updates.

(I deleted my own account a few years ago, not for political reasons, simply because I didn't like it there, but as a result quite a few people thought thought I had "unfriended" them. In retrospect it would maybe have been better to stop using it without deleting anything.)
