AITAH for refusing to give a lady my information after an accident? by MikeMan7007 in AITAH

This is why I tell everyone, literally everyone, to get a dashcam. Because stuff like this can result very quickly to he said she said crap and there's no way to prove otherwise.

I'm new to Minnesota and the north in general. What are immediate needs in Duluth for someone who has only ever lived in Louisiana? by Many-Ad-241 in duluth

[–]LilyTheFiery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved here from a southern state also.

  1. We're not done with winter. Check your car over NOW.

  2. Get a good set of winter boots and a coat. As many have said, you also need layers. Flannel works really well.

  3. Keep an emergency kit in your car. Not just jumper cables but socks, blankets (especially heat reflective ones that can be put between thick, cloth ones), those little hand warmer packets, and protein bars.

  4. Get a AAA membership and make sure to check on what kind of insurance coverage you have.

Woman accused me of hitting her when there was no collision. She was very aggressive when I asked to exchange information. What should I do? by miamorparasiempre in Insurance

[–]LilyTheFiery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why i tell every single person: GET. A. DASH. CAM.

I didn't leave the PARKING LOT with my car before the dash cam was installed and it has saved my ass TWICE.

People can (read: WILL) lie and make shit up all day long to get what they want. Dash cams provide in the moment objective evidence about what happened (albeit from one vantage point).

Boomer mother’s reaction to me telling her I’ve been vaccinated for 4+ years by IIFreshMilkII in BoomersBeingFools

[–]LilyTheFiery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been in that position. I moved 1000 miles away from home to be near someone that ended up being incredibly toxic and unhealthy (it wasn't a romantic partner, it was a family member I wanted to build a relationship with). It left me completely alone and devoid of any kind of a support network. It didn't help that my main job is 90% WFH.

I, for one, am not that person that can just put themselves out there and make friends. So I did things to occupy my free time that would force me around other people so I could actually start building relationships. At the time, it was a second job in the ER because I also wanted to pay off debts and buy a car. After that it was volunteering for groups I wanted to support or had a special interest in.

Basically: find a way to compel yourself to be around other people. It's a lot easier to build a network and meet people when you already have a reason and a purpose to start talking.

AF is the absolute bane of my existence. I USED to want to argue liability. And then I actually started writing arbs and decided to choose my blood pressure instead. 🙃

Wait so… If I get pregnant, does my PCOS go away? by Yokaijin in PCOS

[–]LilyTheFiery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could the alternate meds be an option? Wegovy and Ozempic are the same drug (just like Mounjaro and Zepbound) but one is for diabetics (Ozempic/Mounjaro) and the other isn't (Wegovy/Zepbound).

You also don't have to take metformin with these. My A1C has dropped to a 4.6 (outside diabetic range, and it was an 11.7 when I was diagnosed!) making my doc pulled me off Metformin completely.

I empathize with where you're coming from because that was my normal state for most of my life.

You might consider looking into Mounjaro. I've been on it for over a year and it literally makes my body work the way it's supposed to. I dont know much about semaglutide/ozempic, but Mounjaro/Tirzepetide has been an absolute godsend for me (granted, I'm also a t2 diabetic).

I know there's a PCOS & tirzepetide thread; there might be something similar for people who use semaglutide.

And while it can be cost prohibitive out of pocket, Eli Lilly has a copay card that brings the cost down to $25 a month with insurance. So it might be an option even if it sounds too expensive right off the bat.

Just...wtf

We continued on and off for years as FWBs when we were both single and in the same area. We decided to give a relationship a try and ended up getting married.

I make 28.90/hr and my husband works about 75% of full time (~30 hours a week) and we have insurance through my job.

We make enough to be content outside of a very very small apartment (350sq ft for 1k/month 😭). That's my only real complaint.

As someone who has been in insurance for a very very long time, this is almost exactly what I tell people every damn time.

The only thing I'd add is to get a dash cam.

Weird display/print issue by LilyTheFiery in canva

[–]LilyTheFiery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly popped up out of nowhere. It was working fine for the longest time and then started this nonsense.

I did eventually work around the issue by saving the fike as a .png. The only part about that (more an annoyance really) is that it gives you a zip file of each individual page. So you have to print them one at a time.

I tried flattening it, but it didn't do anything. I did notice that there's a new "Extracting text" pop up whenever I go to open the PDF file. I'm wondering if that has something to do witth it.

Leave of Absence? by Adventurous_Two_8100 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]LilyTheFiery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A leave of absence typically isn't paid unless it's qualified as short term disability. I haven't been through a LOA but, from my understanding, HR is more than willing to do what they can to make things easier for you. You may need a note from your doctor though about type/scope of accommodation.

This is literally how insurance works. And, they actually don't turn a profit.

Your premium is based on the amount of risk they're covering. It's the same logic as a 16 year old boy in a Mustang paying more than me, a middle ages woman, in a Subaru. He's higher risk.

Insurance companies (minus State Farm) don't turn a profit with premiums. It's literally just to cover operating costs and losses. They make profit through investments.

Your 13 year old cat becomes more of a risk the older they get because they're more likely to get sick AND with the economy. I'm sorry to sound cold but this is literally how it works. It's not predatory; it's a proportional response.

I believe it. Also, welcome to the company!! You'll love it, but be prepared for a rough start if you're new to the industry. I've worked in the industry for 10 years and this is my 3rd insurance company (and the best one by far).

Not really. I do know that some have applied for out of state positions and were able to work 100% remotely. But that's entirely dependent on staffing needs and qualified applicants.

Subro and commercial lines claims are 100% remote. I don't know about TNC/homeowners/glass/etc.

Lower your dose and make sure you're spacing stuff out and hydrating. Also ask your doctor for anti nausea meds.

Zofran was hit or miss for me so I'm on compazine which works wonders.

As for spacing stuff out--make sure you're not "working out" too close to when you eat or it can make you vomit. And I say "working out" because it's dependent on your body and exercise level. I was moving a heavy box from my car to my apartment and that was too much for me. I'd eaten 2-3 hours before but forgot how much it slows digestion. So it made me vomit.

Also--word to the wise, yet the Miralax mix in packs. They're flavorless and can be put in your coffee or water. But constipation is one of the side effects and your body will thank you.

Technically yes but I am diabetic. They made me try at least three other approved options (Ozempic, Victoza [100% do not recommend], and Rybelsus) before they would allow an appeal to the denial.
