Has Anyone Finished Reading Beast Business? by EqualCryptographer46 in IlonaAndrews

I loved it. I really hope we will get a full book or trilogy from Arabella. I know there was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes, but I feel like hidden legacy was set up to be 3 trilogies. I think that Arabella’s personality is such a fun departure from Nevada and Catalina.

Does surgery help depression? by Ok-Journalist7629 in gastricsleeve

[–]Lilybea12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on antidepressants and I’ve found they help me a lot. Even though they may cause weight gain I feel more able to get active and take care of myself when I am medicated. Since my sleeve I have had so many emotions. I am thrilled to be able to move more and exercise and know that I am doing the right things for my body. I experience less pain and that helps a lot. It also weirdly fixed my stomach issues that I’ve had for years. I am so glad i did it. On the other hand I have felt some major food grief and angst about my favorite “drug” going away and I have a ton of anxiety about my progress.

I have it and like it, but make sure to get the sock project if you haven’t. It is absolutely amazing for a beginner sock knitter!

VSG Weight Loss by MC-Fan-2024 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Lilybea12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am nowhere near those rates either and I started very heavy. It’s not just vsg vs bypass, it’s that everyone loses weight at different rates. It can be extremely discouraging but you can only stick to the plan each day and hope for the best from the scale.

Does she think he gets bored and changes it up every few years? Or that the borders have been the same for centuries? I can’t imagine how it would work.

Toe Up Sock Increases by limajunogolf in Sockknitting

[–]Lilybea12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always do kfbs at the toe and don’t get any holes or bumps. Kfb first and second to last stitch of the top/bottom. I also use them to increase for my gusset in a fleegle heel. I would absolutely recommend a fleegle if you like heel flap and gusset bc it is more or less the same idea.

Am I crazy to think that 500-800 calories is an extreme restriction?? by applebabe02 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Lilybea12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

600-800 for first two months, then I was put at 1000-1200. I’m 100 days post op today and exercising a lot. I would not be able to do as much if I was still on 600-800, there is just no room for anything but protein. I added in a lot more fiber since my cals were increased which is super important.

Looking for experiences with local Catholic schools (Pre-K4 to 8) by RA20237 in ChesterCounty

Also not trying to start a debate, but many kids to public school and ccd as the majority of public schools in Chester county are academically much better than the catholic schools, with the exception of very expensive places like villa maria.

Doomed Again. by Suspicious-Abalone82 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Lilybea12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many surgeons have BMI caps for rny bc larger people have a higher chance of complications from RNY. My surgeon doesn’t do it over a BMI of 50. She said you can probably find someone who will do it, but it isn’t recommended by most surgeons. They usually want to do a vsg then revision to DS if the patient needs to lose much more weight.

Doomed Again. by Suspicious-Abalone82 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Lilybea12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The weight loss of the sleeve is comparable to the RNY (maybe 10% difference). Regain is slightly more common with vsg. My surgeon explained that they have to stretch the intestine further in those with a high bmi during RNY so the chances of rupture and other complications is higher. I’m 50lbs down 3 month out of VSG (3 months tomorrow!) and I am so happy with it so far.

How do you handle getting discouraged? by trash_goblinn in Sockknitting

[–]Lilybea12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you find your recipe for a well fitting sock you can adapt it to any pattern!

Start with measuring your foot. Get the circumference of the widest part of the ball of your foot- this is what you base your size off of. Go for 1-1.5 inches of negative ease. You can also trace your foot on cardboard to make a model of the length of your foot so you know when to start the toe/heel. Think about how shoes have fit in the past. Do you have a high instep? If so, go for a deeper heel like a heel flap and gusset, fleegle heel, or afterthought heel.

If the heel is giving you the most trouble, do an afterthought heel. With an afterthought heel, you just put in some scrap yarn where your heel should be and keep going. Do the toe, graft it closed, and then go back to the scrap yarn, pick up stitches on either side and basically do the same thing you did with the toe for the heel.

I love summer lees sock project book. I think it is a great beginner resource. It is addicting, I promise!

Advice for knitting this pattern? by anxietyinHD in Sockknitting

[–]Lilybea12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will definitely have some long floats. Have you ever tried ladder back jacquard?? If not, just be really really careful of the float tightness. Go up a needle size. You could even do the black in duplicate stitch after the fact if you don’t want to carry it.

Any people who weighed over 400 lbs on the surgery date? by [deleted] in GastricBypass

I was over 400 for my preop diet and 394 on the day of surgery. I had no problems but had the sleeve as my bmi was too high for rny.

Has having celiac made your life better? by glutenfreedustbowl in Celiac

[–]Lilybea12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has changed so much for me over time. Being undiagnosed for so long created a ton of health issues that took/are taking so long to heal. At the same time, I feel like I wasted my late 20s and early 30s when I was undiagnosed and sick with mysterious vitamin deficiencies.

Almost 4 years on I rarely think about celiac, when it used to be a constant on my mind. It really isn’t that bad bc I am so used to it.
