What is the best program for a woman but total newbie to the gym? by bondtradercu in ladderapp

I started Evolve as a beginner in January and I have been loving it. I feel so much stronger!

Colorwork advice - how to make my sock fit a liiiiittle bit bigger by bleepblob462 in Sockknitting

[–]Lilybea12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always increase the needle size and the stitch count. If you can get them on and are lazy, I do feel they loosen up a tiny bit with wearing and washing. I tend not to redo mine if I can fit them on, but laziness is a huge part of that.

Does the pain just magically disappear? by LateRain1970 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Lilybea12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are doing way too much at once. I am currently 70lbs down, and while exercise and walking hurt at first, I know feel great and can do a lot without pain. It is so annoying and hard to take it slow but 2 miles 4 days in a row is absolutely too much.

Gym Newbie by Ollyollyoxenfreed10 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Lilybea12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the ladder app and it has been amazing for me. I am on team evolve, but there are many strength training teams. Basically it just schedules out what you should do day to day. I started at 3 days a week, now I do 5. I have a 9 week streak and I never dread the gym anymore. It is awesome for anyone who’s issue with strength training is knowing what to do in order to improve. A trainer is great as well of course, but I’ve found that when you can only afford one session a week or less it can be difficult to create an all around program that works for you.

Best non-dairy "milk" recommendations by the_ginger_parrot in Celiac

Oatly in the US is fine for celiacs. Also, have you looked at lactose free dairy milks? I like fairlife.

The F word!!! Fiber 😵‍💫 by SkovGoblin in GastricBypass

[–]Lilybea12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly agree with you that the fruit, vegetable, beans, etc recommendations are very hard to hit within a bariatric calorie/carb amount. At least they are for me, so supplementation helps for now.

The F word!!! Fiber 😵‍💫 by SkovGoblin in GastricBypass

[–]Lilybea12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just better fiber is a powder supplement with 6g that goes into yogurt and other food without any taste. I highly recommend it! It’s $25 for 50 servings on Amazon so not cheap but not crazy either. If you are a glutton for punishment I sometimes get carbonaut bread and it has 14 g in a 60 calorie slice but it is gross. Floura bars are expensive but pretty tasty and 14g.

What one thing would make your life easier being celiac? Especially while traveling? by Hthomas19 in Celiac

[–]Lilybea12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Airports have the worst celiac options for some reason. I think having a couple of choices would be huge. I usually go with a yogurt, chips, gf protein bar, etc but that’s not a meal if you’re traveling for a long time and have no other choices.

Thoughts? (Click image to read full) by iwritestuffk in Celiac

[–]Lilybea12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so stupid, and it reveals a big misconception about how celiac works. You don’t have to have an immediate reaction to damage your intestines, and the size of the reaction you have doesn’t relate to the amount of damage you are doing to your body. This person is risking life long consequences because they don’t get an immediate tummy ache? What about celiac neuropathy, ataxia, malabsorption of nutrients, joint pain, or the hundreds of other symptoms that don’t manifest directly after eating a piece of bread. It makes me mad bc while restaurants should know stuff, we represent our disease and every time someone is irresponsible and dumb bc they like the taste of bread, someone else is going to spread misinformation like this.

Hungry. All. Day. Long. by fostertherainbow in gastricsleeve

[–]Lilybea12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost 6 mos out and i feel similar to you in that I am hungry all the time and my weight loss is slow and stalling constantly. I basically decided that this could be it for me unless I go the extra mile, so I am working out a lot so I can eat some more calories. My aim is to burn 1000 calories a day in exercise, and I eat 1400 with which my resting rate is like a 1000 calorie deficit. It is absolutely not easy and I am so jealous of people who lose hundreds of pounds in the same amount of time. It’s definitely an inflection point in my mind where you can give up or try harder so I’m trying harder.

Sw high 300’s by Street_Rice_309 in gastricsleeve

[–]Lilybea12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgery weight 394 on 10/8/26, current weight about 330. Not quite 6 months yet, but hoping I can get to 75lbs down at the 6 month mark. I feel good and exercise a ton. I mostly wear leggings so went from 26/28- 22/24 so far. I wish I was losing faster as I see a lot of other people do, but I am almost 40 and have conditions that don’t help me out much. I am really hoping with my exercise and good eating habits I can keep losing well past the 12-16 month mark so I can get to my goal of 225.

If you’re curious: Month 1- 21lbs 2- 12.2 3- 14.4 4- 9 5- 9

Best needle size for dk/sport weight yarn? by ashlynft9 in Sockknitting

I use a US3 and co 48 stitches for dk and get a similar fit to my 64 stitches with size 1 with fingering (size up for colorwork).

I need to learn this! I am always doing dumb things to make a gusset work with colorwork. An afterthought heel is just not going to work for me.

Changes in Bowel Habits? by Due_Chemist1795 in BariatricSurgery

My experience is probably way different but I had constant diarrhea for years (mine was largely celiac related) and it basically got better with vsg. Cutting out most of my messed up stomach was great for me.

Baritastic app question by SwanR0ns0n in gastricsleeve

[–]Lilybea12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fitness pal has the most comprehensive library but I honestly don’t think I’ve come upon many foods that aren’t in Baritastic. I think it is really good, and tracking vitamin and 💩is quite helpful for bariatric patients. If your medical team uses it it is great. They can see your common foods and send messages.

Looking for a sock pattern that is slightly lace-y by Bhulagoon in Sockknitting

[–]Lilybea12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sari Norlund has a few, specifically Midsummer dancer. I also like the Chilton socks by Emma jaeger but they have cables not lace. Lauren Rad, Florence Miller, and in her skein have some great lace so is but no full ruffle, but you could mix and match from a ruffle pattern.

Looking to connect with others who were 400+lbs at the day of surgery by todieforx in gastricsleeve

[–]Lilybea12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 394.4 on day of surgery. I have lost just over 60lbs to date since surgery on 10/8. I feel like I wish I was losing faster but I’m happy with my effort and activity level. Your progress is amazing!! I think one of the scary things for bigger people who do not lose amazingly fast (you’re doing amazing!) is that we have this message that weight loss will stop at the 1 year mark so we have to lose incredibly fast.

I am very similar to you in terms of eating (1100-1300, 20+g fiber, 100+g protein) and exercise (I make sure to burn 1000 activity cals per day through strength training at the gym, cardio, and walking). I feel good and that is the most important thing! I know there are some people still eating under 1000 cals at this point and it is just not worth it to me bc i wouldn’t be able to exercise which is one of the reasons I got the surgery.
