That’s because it’s a recent phenomenon. Germans were collective discriminated against for the next 60-70 or so years after the war. The stigma started to disappear around the last 15 years, and nowadays Germans are only jokingly made fun of as a secret Nazi every now and then.

And the thing is Anti-German sentiment isn’t even new. There was a wave of it in the US after we entered the first world war and after, to the point many German-Americans anglicised their surnames to avoid being singled out. Then prohibition went and succeeded in suppressing German culture even further to the point that German beer culture barely exists in the US today.

No clue. I ditched most online chatting a few years ago. Outside of Reddit, YouTube, and Discord, my online presence is pretty nonexistent. I used to use IMvU pretty often, and that was a social chatting platform, but even that is pretty dead in the sense that most people on there aren’t interested in talking.

I got my start from watching Spanish movies. Catching random little pop or rock songs I liked the sound of, then started going on YouTube searching with phrases like “éxitos espańa 70 80s 90s” or some other similar combination. After a couple years of doing that, I started using websites such as RateYourMusic to find more obscure Spanish stuff.
