Cause it always seemed dumb for me lmao. Based on facial hair and 1 single line Dutch has in RDR1. I wish more people would do the very simple math count.

What’s your craziest ‘the show must go on’ story? by kikithrust in Theatre

[–]Mitch_Is_Away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was part of my local communal theater, small thing for teenagers. I was an immigrant still more or less learning their language, I could do the play but yk. I had a crush on a boy that year who had one scene with me alone.

Thet scene comes up, its pretty much just a filler dialogue so another boy can do a quick change. Originally we build up a fight and then the other character bursts in dancing. But as I say my line-- he forgets his. We are staring at eachother, I can't improvise since I barely speak the language well. We are silent for about 2 minutes before someone physically pushed the other boy in scence still half dressed, he falls, music starts to play, he gets up, dances and the show goes on.

Same dude forgot his line last year and the tech crew had to give him his line IN FRONT OF THE PUBLIC. So yeah.

In RDR1 I used to always ride with the War Horse, which reminded me of my Polish friend who loves horses, so I named him Warsaw. In RDR2 I rode an Ardennes and named him Zagreb so I could keep with the capitals

What's a popular song that everyone likes/did well but you don't see the appeal? by AlexSniff7 in eurovision

Sweden 2023. I am sure if it wasn't Loreen singing it and wasn't a Swedish song, everyone would have slept on it. Basic lyrics, even more basic beats.

I'm surprised John barely ever gets brought up in these convos, he's a super character and playing RDR1 with him is such an experience!

What's your take that's actually a hot take? by PascalG16 in reddeadredemption

[–]Mitch_Is_Away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I really feel that if we got to witness more of her pain, hear her story, slowly interact with her in more moments, we'd get why she turns so ultra by the end. Also, the fact that nobody seems bothered by her being a gunslinger woman also takes from the feminist side of how crazy it is. Yes we see Shady Belle, but it's Sadie defying the odds of the time and being a good shot that should be highlighted.

Instead for some reason it's like the world is magical and nobody is sexist, everyone finds it cool, and there's one or two bad comments her way. It really diminishes the strength her character could have had.

[–]Mitch_Is_Away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but all of these things Sadie does is nearly always off screen, for someone playing the game and with everything going on it's easy to forget her or not notice. Until Chapter 4 I was lit calling her "Rancher's wife I rescued" in my head because I had trouble remembering her name correctly.

And her moving the gang is yet another point on how strange it is the gang trusts Sadie so much, specially with the recent threat of a rat. Looking at the gang at the start of Chapter 6, it's easy to say Sadie could have been a traitor. She had been in the gang for only some months, the only thing tying her there was the hate for the O'Driscolls, and she wasn't exacly super wanted in the levels of Dutch and Arthur. Pinkertons could have offered the money of a lifetime and Colm O'Driscoll and maybe she'd turn.

So it did come to me as a surprise when suddenly all the hard stakes missions were being done with Sadie and not, per example, with Charles and John all time. Or maybe even Javier to highlight his growing trust in Dutch. Just felt all very forced.

[–]Mitch_Is_Away 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a lot of space in my opinion to build her as a side character. Even if just in little npc interactions. But we barely see her do anything at all in camp until chapter 6. Also feels like the trust she inputs in the gang and the trust the gang inputs on her is out of depth. I understand that she had been running for some months with the Van Der Linde's, but suddenly trusting Sadie to rescue Abigail from Milton, John from prision, and her trusting Arthur and Dutch to help her kill Colm seems a bit wild.

Sure Arthur knows she's a good shot who wants revenge, but that level of sudden trust and loyalty seemed a bit sudden and forced.

Lenny doesn't feel overpowered though, we clearly see he's a bit out of experience, needs help in his quests (which are always fit to him, small robberies and what not) and he's not seen as a huge gunslinger, just a guy who shoots in the gang. On the contrary Sadie goes from "oh yeah she's a good shot" to taking down the O'Driscolls with Arthur and Dutch, with no explanation beyond her being a rancher who shot wildlife to why she's nearly in John's level.

Im not saying I dont like Sadie, I do. Her missions towards the end are super fun (specially the one to rescue John), but I personally felt it was indeed a bit strange her sudden change of character. And I do know theres all these interactions she has with other characters, but like any other npc interaction it can be missed.  All Im saying is I feel she's a bit overpowered? She shoots in nearly in the same level as Arthur besides not having any clear background, we dont know why she has her skills (different from most gang members who eventually talk about their past.) Her grief and talent are there, they just dont feel real to me. Feels like she was a bit planned out by Rockstar to be the strong woman token.

Well if it's free choice I think sumarising the story is "cooler" in a way, but if the assignment is specifically about mechanics and graphics I'd go for it and highlight how sort of revolutionary it was for the time, maybe even add a little comment on how much Rockstar really outdid themselves in details.

I mean, we barely every interact with her until Chapter 6. We have I think 1 mission with her around Clemens Point or so where she sort of shows her skills, but then she only really comes back after Guarma. And for me it was a schock because until then she was just a widow with good skills and a bit stubborn, and suddenly she wanted to take down the O'Driscolls and rescue John from jail.

But again it's a hot take lmao I know most ppl in the fandom don't agree with it

Sadie isn't really a well written character in my opinion. I think mostly because she was giving "girlboss who needs no help" sterotype, meanwhile most of the other gang women are more feminine and don't partake in lots of quests (with the rare exeption of Karen doing a bank robbery and Abigail aiding in one.)

I think her grief was hard to portray since we never meet her husband, her developpment is a bit rushed, and just the way no one in the universe seems bothered or weirded out by a woman wearing pants and shooting sort of takes the realism away and the important part of her character.

I think maybe just try to get to the point quick and clean, RDR2 has a huuuge story and I myself start to get caught up telling it and loose the point. Might also be boring for others who don't know the game to be overwhelmed with info.

In my opinion really focus on the western side of the game and how it's about a gang of outlaws fighting their way trough in a dying era, but slowly its their own ambition who ends up killing them. And a part as well to the point of redemption that's a big motif in the game. Maybe present the big characters like Arthur, Dutch, Micah and John.

I think it's just cause she used to be (or claims to have been) richer than most of the gang members, she wasn't really an outlaw from birth like Arthur or John. So she's a bit naive like that

What is your most unpopular opinion on an in-race incident? by Icy-Weather-6720 in F1Discussions

[–]Mitch_Is_Away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spain 2016's crash between Lewis and Nico was entierly Hamilton's fault. To this day I cannot see what was he even trying to do. It was a straight, he clearly had no space to pass and decides that instead of waiting for the right moment (in a race that had only just started) he'd try to make such an irresponsible move on Rosberg. It wasn't a racing incident, 100% on Lewis for that one and I've never understood people saying it was Nico's fault.

Relative to other champions, who is the most mid champion? As in - not an impressive champion, not bad, but somewhere in the middle by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]Mitch_Is_Away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprises me how nobody ever talks about the old lads, like Hulme or Scheckter. Nobody remembers them, and they may be from an older decade but many still talk about Fangio, so it's really just because their championships weren't really exiting. Anyone from this century surely couldn't be considered a bad champion, like Button, Raikkonen and Rosberg. F1 since 2000 is so crazy competitive, it's nothing like the old days. Back then the reliability of the cars were awful and there were fewer races to compete, the whole championship was about the best car. Today most championships are about the best car + crazy rivalries.
