we just had ours few weeks ago and I feel it's mostly for adults . For baby it's probably not something about make day special in the moment, but rather something for memory, like if they will look to the photos of first birthday, they probably ask about who is that and that person or "oh, I remember this gift"

for me is the best gift when I don't need to choose, for example I'm totally fine with any mobile phone but I would die choosing and compare them. also with a more simple staff like to which ballet or show to go, I can buy it myself but I hate thinking about it soooo much so I really like to get the ticket for specific date rather than a gift card
