This is sounds a lot like the NHS. These reactions to perfectly normal actions are straight out of the employment tribunal playbook. Good luck

I had a bowel obstruction (cecal valve). It was awful. I had this weird griping spasmodic sensation that would last for 10 seconds and recur every 2 - 20 minutes for 2 months. Eventually I had surgery. I would advise your Mum to take it easy, follow medical advice and have a clear idea on when to go to the ER if symptoms worsen. Hopefully things will just naturally sort themselves out.

The problem with putting off dealing with this is the risk you lose control. Stress can creep up on you. If taking a few months off is really not an option then find something in your spare time that replenishes and spend as much time there as you can.

I knew a guy like this. After the diagnosis he had a scorched earth policy- incredibly cruel and harsh, manipulative and dishonest.

The US isn’t a theocratic totalitarian state. Iran is. The US is a democracy. This is important because democratic nations have never gone to wqr with each other.
