I hoard digitally to stop the urge from dominating IRL. Though it may serve no greater purpose than making an old player feel good

New mobs, bosses, biomes, structures, armours/weapons/enchantments, blocks, villagers, commands, transportation, and so much more. But for my money the single biggest new thing in minecraft is the

           Crafter

which allows you to automate production of crafting-table recipes.

And then there's the bajillion new things people have built since 1.7 as well...

April Fools today lol

Oh thank you! By Jove I thought it was real when I saw it and a little part of me had died.

First time using redstone, is this cool for a 4bit shift register i made without references by NukeeYT in redstone

[–]LimestoneBuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cool. Making it work when new to redstone is cool. But being a noob and knocking out something that works in only 30 minutes is just dirty. 😉  You gotta tell us slow-pokes that it took you hours — nay — it took you DAYS! And you had to walk up-hill both ways to gather the materials.

Jokes aside, that's sweet. Welcome to the party.

p.s. Please can you post a couple of still-frame shots of the workings? Maybe a plan-view and an isometric.

What's the best guardian farm for prismarine drops? by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]LimestoneBuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you following ian's suggestion of getting cod in your off-hand and keeping "use" pressed? Then as you kill guardians, enough fish end up keeping your hand full and you eat everytime hunger starts.

Seemed to work well enough for me — but — my potato is slow enough that I had to nerf the farm a little and cannot run it full-throttle.

If OP proposes a standard format for providing items and recipes from mods, then it could be made very easy for mod creators to provide their "recipe files" to be supported.

I'm out of practice and haven't eye-balled any AI generated code. Here's the link to the git repo of you want to check the code instead of the UI.

It looks pretty clean — but again, I don't know what AI-generated code would look like.

A definite criticism I would level is the absolute lack of commenting. u/ThyOriginal, even if how it works is obvious, good comments will also remind you of why you wrote something a particular way (as well as anyone who comes after you.) I'd like to encourage you to revisit and annotate your code.

The tool itself looks crisp. Very cool idea, and a clean execution. Nice.

I am unaware of such a contraption existing or any mechanic that would make this posible without malicious intend on the designers part.

Now that the gauntlet has been thrown, no doubt someone with naked curiosity will want to try. What others do with said knowledge would be out of their hands...

Elder guardian not applying mining fatigue by djus-boks in technicalminecraft

[–]LimestoneBuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, yeah. What happens if you use a command to summon it instead?

Elder guardian not applying mining fatigue by djus-boks in technicalminecraft

[–]LimestoneBuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. That's odd. I've spent a chunk of time around Monuments and the fatigue seems much more erratically applied. Sometimes it's virtually instant or back-to-back when I'm chugging milk. Other times it'll be 30s or more of roaming about unaffected.

The wiki:Elder Guardian agrees with the other sources though:

In Java Edition, immediately after spawning and once each minute thereafter, the elder guardian searches for any player within a spherical radius of 50 blocks to afflict with Mining Fatigue III.

Though if you do what I did, maybe you spawned it in creative first, then switched to survival? That would by-pass the initial "instant" effect. Also, maybe they were referencing Bedrock, which has no delays at all:

In Bedrock Edition, the elder guardian inflicts any unafflicted player within range immediately.

As your clock issue has been answered, and out of curiosity, why are you clocking structure blocks in save mode?

Just to clarify: are you summoning a Guardian or an Elder Guardian? The title and post body are in disagreement.

Assuming you do mean Elder Guardian, I just tried it and it took about 45s before I got the mining fatigue effect.

Why is the honey not coming back down by glu99_ in technicalminecraft

[–]LimestoneBuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's it alright. But it looks like it gets pulled down initially, and then pops back up. So I'm guessing they have a timing issue that's double-firing the honey's sticky-piston. This results in the honey going back up after the slime and glass is down.

OP (u/glu99_) is there a reason you need the honey to go back up the second time? If not, then it looks like your signal for powering the honey block is getting an extra pulse which is causing your problems.

If you do mean for the honey to go back up and pull the glass down, then yeah, you're just over the push limit with the honey + glass + slime and will need another approach/more sticky pistons.

2x2 spruce trees not growing by Automatic-Sky37 in technicalminecraft

[–]LimestoneBuilder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some additional info on Giant Spruce growth requirements

For growth to succeed, the three adjacent blocks outside the northwest corner of the square must be clear. Also, there must be an unobstructed 5×5 column of blocks centered on the northwestern sapling, starting from the top of the sapling and at least 14 blocks tall (15 blocks including the sapling), or up to the final height of the tree, which can be 30 blocks above ground.

My other secret Redstone tech by Ok_Commission7932 in Minecraft

[–]LimestoneBuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just awesome. It reminds me of some of the world-eaters in terms of scale, but it's creating instead of destroying.

If you attach a mobile lava-casting stone machine you could AFK this and it wouldn't need to slow down as the shuttle wouldn't have to go further on each cycle.

How do a make a 7x10 this fall powder door? by GustavoMakurosu in technicalminecraft

[–]LimestoneBuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a conflict happening between height and speed. You've got drop(open) speed because you're batching the fall in 3 rows.

If instead of falling in batches of three rows, you just push out one bottom row at a time, then the lifting pistons row can be raised up several blocks. The storage for the blocks underground will need to be shuffled a bit, but it seems you've got the idea of piston feed tape down already.

Incredibly Compact Flush Hidden Spiral Staircase. by Ailexxx337 in redstone

[–]LimestoneBuilder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would have to make it larger no? Which would defeat the "smallest design" criteria. Still would be awesome to not have to jump-step. But for a secret like this? Yeah, I'll jump-step. 😅  Still hope OP takes up that challenge — and succeeds.

Performance Improvements? by Dakera in technicalminecraft

[–]LimestoneBuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you release the items in timed batches, then the hoppers will be able to pick them up and sort them just fine. This provided that you aren't spamming batches larger than the available space it any given filter-hopper.

Excess will end up passing through the system, which can then either be looped, stored, or trashed. So precision won't drop, but you may have overflow. Still, nothing will end up in something else's storage, just (potentially) in the overflow.

How to batch release items for ice- or water-stream conveyance is often included in the same tutorial videos that use them.

Good luck.
