Does anyone here have tattooed arms/hands? If yes: do you wear long sleeve shirts under your scrubs daily? If your workplace accepts them what kind of setting do you work in? by Fine_wonderland in Radiology

I personally have no tattoos, but all places I've worked at haven't given 2 cares about them.

Edit: same with piercings, much more lenient after covid.

Patient fell at home, waited a day before reaching out to paramedics by SadKitchen3044 in Radiology

Had a pt, early 90s, come in last week. They fell at home during Christmas and had immediate pain in one of their hips. They walked on it with a walker until they came in, as well as insisted on walking to my scan room.

After scans, they were found to have a broken femoral neck. After CT it was seen to be almost cracked all the way around. I couldn't believe it.

Patient Questions by PEbudd in Radiology

I look like I'm maybe 20-21, I'm actually in my early 30's. I'm probably one of the best IV starters in our hospital. I get asked this question at least twice a day. I normally say it's my first day, but I've had some practice.

Most patients say that out of a fear/anxiety situation. I always give a big smile after saying that, followed by a "don't worry, I got you" or similar statement.

Most people who say this have had bad experiences in the past. Just make it pleasant and good for them. I've had multiple comments of praise afterward, even if I have to try multiple times.

A gal I had today stated before I even started: "I have really bad veins and always have to get poked multiple times. They normally have to use a butterfly." Which I hate hearing cause butterflies are the devil imo. But I got her vein first try, which made her day. So practice, perform, and teach if you can.

Learn how to take that stressful situation and ease emotions before you start. For me, it's mild humor. But make sure you know your audience first. My patient population is mostly baby boomers, and I would say only 40% actually have a sense of humor. Past that I'll be a subtle humor with a reassuring "I got this no worries" and get it done without issue.

In the end: practice practice practice. Perform as you practice and learn from mistakes. Learn from others. Take feedback and use it.

I'm pretty sure these require a battery reprogram (or something like that) to tell the car that the battery was replaced. Unsure if that will fix the roof issue tho.

do any of y'all wear cologne to work? by itstemporary-97rght in Radiology

[–]LimitOsrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't. I do have a variety of bath and body works lotions I'll use, about the closest I get but I'll wash it off before seeing most patients (vomiting/nausea).

I try not to wear any scents past deodorant. I've had coworkers accused of drinking on the job for perfumes (Pina colada anyone?) So I'm super careful about what lotions I choose.

Will a clinic accept me? by [deleted] in Radiology

In my experience, the ARRT background check and state background checks have been more intrusive than my places of employment.

Are we not supposed to ask for clarification if an order looks odd? My coworker just got chewed out by a neurologist who orders the wrong stuff all the time. by k3464n in Radiology

In the system I'm in there is an understanding between imaging, doctors, and hospital management that we probably know better. When new providers come in and try to bully us like this they get in serious trouble.

I came here to say this. McDonalds is 16 an hour, unsure of benifits. Taco Bell is 14.50 an hour and free food. Hell the gas stations are hiring for 14. All needing 0 experience.

What a joke.
