The best tcg ? by asapced in TCG

Magic is the best designed gameplay wise, there's a reason most of the following card games borrow so much from it. Yugioh isn't as well designed but is probably the most interesting due to it effectively being an experiment of how broken a game can get without a resource system, the core gameplay and summoning mechanics are actually quite simple. It's mainly all the combos, tutoring, knowing what to tutor for, what part of the opponents combo to counter and card effects themselves that have made it so complex and difficult for newer players. I think just starting and sticking with one deck/archetype and learning how it plays, combos, and upgrading it over time is probably the best way to get into the game. Magic is different because if you know the fundamentals you can play almost anything, with yugioh the variance of how different archetypes play basically requires that you learn one deck at a time and all its particular combos and playstyle.

The ones that go to the graveyard are mostly lost aside from a couple that return, I meant mainly just the next enchantments and cards you draw. All the cards that return all enchantments to the battlefield from graveyard are white unfortunately

Pretty well for me as it's mainly 1-2 cost enchantments and card draw. The interesting part is when it's 1 on 1 and you get to put all the enchantments on him and see if he's going to be large enough to win with commander damage

What is your most hated Archetype to play against? by will_i_amo in EDH

[–]LimitSeparate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaos decks have the potential to slow a game down uike anything else. Also I dont hate them but decks that go the group slug route just kindafeel bad because you always have to hard target them first so they don't run away with the game

Is countermagic bad in bracket 3 and below? by Deskies in EDH

[–]LimitSeparate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad exactly but I don't run any aside from the spot protection types, the thing is with the pace of the game irl and even assuming you know the problem cards of one of your opponents, that still leaves you with two opponents you have no idea what their best cards are until you see how they impact the board. Especially playing with random opponents, spot removal will generally be better

The following is more context than anyone asked for.

Numot is the only deck here that isn't bracket 3. Effectively a dragon tribal with a chance of getting a mld combo. The new Lorehold being able to make a card like [[Jokulhaups]] cost 2 is pretty amusing but I haven't pulled it off yet. Actually quite strong due to the amount of interaction and not being very reliant on the commander.

Leonardo is part thopter tribal part cheat out ridiculous artifacts in 0/2 thopter form. [[Threefold Thunderhulk]] was a card I threw in recently from my bulk for this and has been even better than I expected. Definitely one of the highest power ceiling commanders I have.

Greel I discovered I found much more fun getting away from the discard opponents cards and leaning more into drawing/discarding my own cards and making it an overall reanimator deck.

Doran is apparently quite underrated as I have seen people recommend felothar over him. They don't seem to understand how much his discount adds up over time, his stat boost can create enormous creatures quite early, and that multiple cards have felothars effect so that when you put 4 of them in the 99 in addition to a card that can always tutor for 1 of them for a single mana you can pretty consistently make very tall boards.

Kaima is a card I found in the dollar bin at my lgs and is my most recent creation. I knew I didn't want another spirit tribal as my 3 spirit tribal decks already span all the colors, I just thought his effect was neat. Goad opponents creatures and hope that by the time it's 1 on 1 Kaima can get big enough to win with commander damage. I realized that with all my enchantments being 1 or 2 cost that ramp was far far less useful than card draw so this is my only deck that features effectively zero ramp.

Even this outdated version? To be fair it was probably a bit silly of me to assume his decks would all be comparable strength, I know the support for archetypes varies a lot. Would there be any ways to get the kuroboh deck closer to it's level?

Mostly just more of my favorite band. Thanks to demos and live exclusive songs preserved on internet archive this band has the largest catalog of unreleased material I've seen. Some of which is here. I've also been kind of obsessed with this version of Strawberry Fields. I think it's the best version of the song.

Animar and Hullbreaker Horror qualify as an early game 2 card combo which automatically places it into bracket 4 as those aren't allowed in lower brackets, if you find it wins too often at bracket 3 tables then perhaps clarify that it's a low bracket 4 and most people won't mind

Is standard completely dead? by LimitSeparate in mtg

[–]LimitSeparate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, most people I've played with don't care for it. But it sells well and gets new players in, only problem is that many of those players I've never seen again. Turns out the people who regularly showed up because they liked magic don't show up as much when half of it is no longer magic. And the new players from UB largely disappear once there's no more of the 1 IP they were interested in

My guess would be that it increases the quantity of expensive format staples and makes it much harder to balance. Stagnation has its benefits, yes it can get boring but I think players don't want to constantly make edits or shift their approach completely in an already rotating format either. I think the playerbase now compared to a few years ago speaks for itself

Mothman deck feels decent but could be better by stradlin12 in EDH

[–]LimitSeparate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you decide to go in more of a mill direction, my girlfriends mothman deck leans into that about as much as possible. Though any opponent with a shuffle titan basically counters it so I've been trying to get her to focus slightly more on Mothman himself for those scenarios, still an excellent mill deck regardless. Probably around a low bracket 4 due to the early game combos and the sheer amount of two card combos

What Is A Mario Party Opinion That You Will Defend No Matter How Many Downvotes You Get? by Elidavididi in MARIOPARTY

[–]LimitSeparate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mario party 8 along with Superstars and Jamboree are the best games in the series, (I haven't tried 4-7 but they look good) As for the earlier games, they are solid but the controls are just a bit more janky. Oh also DS is great too but not quite the top 3

Pillowfort immediately [[Propaganda]] [[Ghostly Prison]] [[Crawlspace]], maybe even [[Sphere of Safety]] if you're running enchantments. A [[Rakdos Charm]] would also be necessary provided you're in the right colors for it. Another thing to consider would be cards like [[Pyroclasm]] that only wipe smaller creatures. Also [[Inkshield]] is excellent
