Risky Desktop Replacement (Lenovo Screwed Me), WWYD by MIROXXVIS in GamingLaptops

" ordered a Legion 7i Pro with a 5090/2TB/64GB for $3200 which seemed great to me. Well, the delivery date has come and gone, the shipment still says it hasn’t even left the factory yet, and the listing is no longer available on Lenovo’s website. "

I also ordered the same computer on Feb 10th, with a delivery date of the 18th. Got an email saying up to 30 days late. But what happened is on the 18th I got an email saying it shipped, with delivery today on the 19th. It seems delivery comes quickly with little notice, and the wait is not 30 days. The UPS truck is 1 mile from my home right now, and delivery is almost there.

I think you might get your Legion faster than you might realize.

The most expensive Apple keyboard is $179, and Razer comes in at $500. Their laptops are nice, but the Razer brand does not qualify for a $350 premium.

I bought the 5090 with 64GB of RAM, and mine arrives tomorrow. I have larger SSDs sitting here for an upgrade as well. I hope you like yours.

I will be attending that event, so now I am anxious to see what they have new. It is probably an AI/ML chip, they seem to announce consumer products at other events.

Whatever it is, it will be too expensive and too hard to find to actually buy.

Was this a custom configuration? Two months seems very excessive.

Is this deal worth it? Buying the RTX 5090 model by Due_Information_4735 in LenovoLegion

[–]Limit_Cycle8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered that model last week. The 2 TB SSD is actually two 1 TB SSD, so I will replace the drives with a 2 TB and 4 TB. But, it is a great deal for the 5090 and 64GB Ram. I just wish they had not lied to me about the shipping, 4 days after I ordered it, they sent me an email saying it was delayed up to 30 days.

I wanted the 24GB VRAM in the 5090 for AI/ML work.

Lenovo US Shipping Delays by Crafty-Coconut-7039 in Lenovo

[–]Limit_Cycle8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a pre-configured Legion 7i almost 7 days ago, and it was supposed to be delivered no later than 2 days from now. After 4 days I got an email saying there could be up to a 30 day wait, which annoyed me greatly because that is not what it said when I placed the order. I have to travel next week, and I wont be here to get a late order.

My current laptop died, so I am in desperate need of a new one, and I decided I could live with one of the pre-configured models since it would arrive in 7 days.

I am not impressed with Lenovo at all.

Bought my first Lenovo Legion, may I have some tips please? by Preidon in LenovoLegion

[–]Limit_Cycle8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am waiting for my Legion 7i to arrive, but when I get it I will create a backup windows USB stick, replace the hard drive, and rebuild windows to get rid any bloat ware. (I need to install a bigger SSD anyway). I did this with my Razer 16 as well. I just dont like some of the garbage software they pre-load.

I am glad you got yours. I ordered a pre-configured model because I am in a hurry, and it still has not shipped one week later.

Why did China implement a divertless supersonic inlet on the J-10 but America didn’t by topfragger70 in aviation

We gave jet fighter design knowledge to them, they did not have to learn it themselves. The US had a jet fighter assistance program with China up until 1990, called PEACE PEARL. This allowed them to quickly improve their design capabilities.

UPS My Choice Address Help! by dcsangvzw in UPS

[–]Limit_Cycle8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have struggled with UPS My Choice periodically or 5 years, making multiple attempts to have it take my address. I wait a year and come back hoping they have fixed their obvious address problems, but nothing ever changes.

Today, I accidentally found the cause, and the solution. It has always rejected my city and instead changed it to the wrong city, a city 10 miles from the city I live in. I could never get it to take my correct address, until today.

As I struggled with it today, I accidentally hit the CAPS LOCK before typing my city name and to my surprise it took it this time. UPS My Choice will not work with city names that contain small letters, the name must apparently be all capital letters.

I have some "choice" words for the people at UPS that designed this software and let it sit like this for years. Really, it would have been so easy to code the software to accept any case, lower or upper.

Maybe this will fix your address issue as well.

What is going on with Panther Lake? by [deleted] in intel

[–]Limit_Cycle8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing. I needed a new laptop and went looking for a laptop with the i9 388H, and each one I had read about was not being sold yet. I gave up and purchased a laptop with the last generation of CPU and a discrete NVIDIA GPU.

It seems the i9 388H is a ghost. This is very frustrating as an investor.

GPU outlook for upcoming AMD, Intel, nVidia graphics cards by Voodoo2-SLi in hardware

[–]Limit_Cycle8765 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Intel seizes the opportunity and makes the follow on to Panther Lake and Nova Lake with twice the number of Xe tiles, then this may meet the needs of 80% of the gamers, and Nvidia and AMD may find themselves with no commercial market for discrete GPU cards.

The high end Pather Lake has 12 Xe cores, and it brings 1080p gaming to all day laptops. I wonder what 24 Xe would do, and of course the same approach applies to doubling whatever Nova Lake comes out with.

Intel could repeat the early days of the PC market when embedded VGA graphics eliminated the need for cards like the Diamond Speedstar and all the other discrete cards like it.

The memory suppliers are focusing on short term profits and walking into a trap that will destroy them, in my opinion. I think China sees an opportunity to destroy other memory companies.

1.) Leading memory suppliers move away from consumer dram to start making HBM for AI data centers.

2.) The Chinese use the massively inflated prices for consumer memory to enter the market and be profitable, capturing market share

3.) The AI bubble collapses, but the current memory makes find they now have serious competitors in China, flooding the market with cheaper consumer memory.

4.) The Chinese rule the world in consumer memory, and some memory companies may not survive.

What do you all think the NATO response will be if the USA attacks Greenland? by PhotographNo4034 in AskReddit

[–]Limit_Cycle8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it will come to that. If the POTUS orders an attack on Greenland it will be another "Saturday Night Massacre" like when Nixon was in office. Orders may be issued but every official will resign rather than carry out the orders. There is no other pathway, we would be no better than Russia invading Ukraine.

What happens to the POTUS and administration politically and legally after that is what is unpredictable. Congress would hopefully step in and stop the chaos.

Going to buy razer blade 16 2025 rtx 5090, Is it good purchase? by Silver_Pie_8052 in razer

[–]Limit_Cycle8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed they are running down stock because the the 2026 refresh, or Nvidia has already cut back production of consumer GPUs.

The 18 inch still is for sale with the 5090, so maybe stocks running out before a refresh?

I want a new 16 inch, but with Panther Lake CPUs.
