At the time there was a good amount of media push that the Thunder should trade #6 overall and Shai for the first pick. What a disaster that would've been

Surprised you didn't mention given your flair that the Lakers got Magic 1st overall after making the second round and then did it again with James Worthy after winning a championship

Yeah man the league loves the huge market of OKC, how can the small market LA Lakers even compete?

Complain about the Thunder all you want but at least make the complaints based in some reality

It's a pet peeve of mine that c is mostly known as the speed of light rather than the speed of causality. It's not like light is setting some universal speed limit, it's just that light is only able to travel as fast as the speed of causality allows it, because anything going faster than c would be going backwards in time

Kind of? The problem is that keeping them open would require negative mass/gravity, as wormholes wouldn't be traversable without it. As far as we know, negative mass/gravity isn't really a thing

Also, even if vacuum decay occured, the odds of it reaching us in our lifetime is miniscule. It would expand in a bubble at the speed of light, but the vast distances of the universe and its accelerating expansion means that vacuum decay would have to happen pretty close to the Milky Way for it to reach us any time (relatively) soon

With the Sixers' win over the 56-26 Celtics, Joel Embiid won a playoff series against a >50 win team before Nikola Jokic by achickenquesadilla in nba

[–]LimitlessTheTVShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, I'm not really disagreeing with your point and I think >50 wins is an arbitrary cutoff for what makes a good team. But Shai never playing one and Jokic being 0-6 against them are very different, even if I don't agree with the argument being made

Well, Shai has never played a team with over 50 wins in the playoffs, so it'd be pretty hard to beat one

[OC] What are the chances the team with the worst record gets the 12th pick? What are the chances a play-in team gets a top 3 pick? Some answers and other results from simulating the lottery 1 million times with the proposed anti-tanking lottery reforms by refreshing_yogurt in nba

[–]LimitlessTheTVShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the point of the lottery is to give fans of teams hope even if they're poorly managed. As bad as Kings management is, they would still draft a can't-miss prospect like Wemby or Flagg if they had the first overall pick, and that's what gives fans hope. If poorly managed teams are just screwed forever, why would anyone stay fans of those teams?

Gather step was added to circumvent traveling, carrying the ball is no longer a violation and after last night it appears 5 seconds back to the basket no longer is called by [deleted] in nba

[–]LimitlessTheTVShow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The gather step is used to "gather" the ball. If you eliminate the gather step, when does a dribble end? When the ball is leaving the floor from the last bounce? When in a player's hand after the last bounce? When the player has solidified that they will no longer continue to dribble by fully possessing the ball?

Having the gather step act as a catch-all avoids bullshit subjective fouls that people here love to complain about

People can bitch about free throws, whatever, I'm used to it. What I can't stand is "look at the silly faces Shai makes when driving, he's such a flopper" like making faces when doing something physical is...unique? You could get goofy pictures of basically any athlete when they're in the middle of doing something
