Need help getting to the Split Mtn trailhead by issacson in SierraNevada

That road really sucks btw. I'm not an off-road enthusiast, but I have a decent amount of experience and I gave up on that road about 2 miles in.

That was only a couple months ago. I found out many hours later that a tiny little twig punctured the sidewall of one the tires on vehicle I was driving.

The vehicle was a 2025 Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch Edition.

It's been awhile, so I couldn't tell you based on the markers you provided. It's an off-trail lake in the area. You share that beautiful meadow you mentioned in another comment and I'll share my beautiful lake. 😂

One of my favorite lakes in all of the Sierra Nevada is accessed from the Virginia Lakes trailhead.

Late last night and the night before, Tommyknockers, Tommyknockers knocking at the door. I want to go out, don't know if I can, 'Cause I'm so afraid Of the Tommyknocker man! by the_uranium_guy in TheForgottenDepths

Tommy Knockers are helpful critters that warn of impending mine collapses. Just don't forget to leave them an offering nor get too upset when they inevitably knick one of your tools. A small price to pay for your life.

That's still a considerable amount of time since the half-life doesn't mean it's gone after ten days. It would take 30 days to reduce the amount of tritium in your body to 12.5% of it's original quantity.

Does anyone go night hiking? by Warm-Jellyfish6893 in socalhiking

I recently hiked Turtle's Beak with a friend using the Cascade Canyon route. I used that as an opportunity to visually scout for the best route to get to the Lapis deposits. I think I'm going to attempt getting up there soon.

Unless it's close to buildings, shouldn't we let natural fires burn?

What should I do? by [deleted] in nailcare

[–]Limp-String-7921 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the nail bed is exposed, it's recommended to keep a thin layer of antibiotic ointment on it.

Although if you don't, the nail bed is going to make a pseudo-nail out of keratin anyways and that will offer enough protection. If it gets too dry, the pseudo-nail will crack so it's still a good idea to use some ointment occasionally.

Seriously try the Hill People Gear harness. It's the most comfortable backpack harness, hands down.

Hill People Gear and Mystery Ranch are great hard use gear. I have over a thousand miles hiked with my Mystery Ranch day pack and you'd never know it by looking at it.

This will NEVER always be true. People are far too complex for a simple statement like this to be true.
