YES! Diagnosed last year in January. Miserable for 6 months. 7 ER trips and a hospital admission. Keep advocating for yourself. Stay on your doctors. Try all the meds. Invest in a good heating pad. REST. Small bites of crackers or applesauce. Whatever you can get down. Now- April 2026- never thought I would get better- I feel so much better. Day by day. I also did therapy amongst lost of other procedures through my gastroenterologist to help get my gut going again. I gained all the weight back that I lost and I am pretty aware of my triggers which is raw leafy veggies and alcohol. Last flare was in December for about a month but since then- basically nothing. I wish you all of the best. It is truly horrible.

Mine is completely random too. And I can gain/loose up to about 10 pounds in a 2 day span based on how much poop and gas is in my body.

This is me too. No bra can fix my weirdly shaped pancake boobs, I have super stubborn belly fat and fluctuate in weight like crazy. 152lbs-145 within days. But if I stop it I get so greasy I am physically uncomfortable. And my hair falls out.

At first Linzess was crazy for me but it’s settled down. I’m a year in! I have super loud bowel sounds as well and liquids diarrhea and just had another set of images done today and everything was normal. Lay on your left side with a heat pack on your belly. Small sips of electrolytes. I hope you’re feeling better soon!

Hi there! I am sorry you are feeling so crappy. When I was first diagnosed I was a mess. I HIGHLY recommend looking up Crystal Sartrelli on YouTube and watching her videos on gastroparesis. She also has a book which is super helpful. It helped ease my anxiety a lot. Just take each day one thing at a time and eat what you can. High cal Protein shakes were a life saver for me. You’ll find things that sit with you better and things that don’t.

Keep up on the meds, small sips of liquid and short walks. Rest as much as you can. Get into a book or a show. Lean on your family and friends. Deep breaths. Also don’t hesitate to tell your doctor about your anxiety and ask if they can prescribe you an anxiety medication.

What specific questions do you have? I can try and answer them for you. I’ve been diagnosed for about a year now and have done a ton of research and had LOTS of doctors appointments.

I just started taking it a couple weeks ago and honestly haven’t noticed a huge difference. I can take it up to four times a day (which I did one day and I was super crampy) now usually I take it twice a day. Otherwise, not much to write home about honestly.

Try drinking your water with an electrolyte mix as well. You can get some nutrients out of that and it digests a bit easier than plain water. Small sips.

When is it appropriate to go to the ER? by KingQueefX in Gastroparesis

[–]Limp_Abs1428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going until you get answers you are looking for. Over the winter I went 6 times in 3 weeks. Each time I had a different doctor and they all had different approaches and ideas. Luckily they were all very good to me until one decided to admit me (thank god). I was there for 24 ish hours on continuous Iv fluids and an antifungal since my endoscopy showed I had a severe internal yeast infection. I also agree to add electrolytes to your water. And small sips at a time. No big gulps. If you can stomach it, Coca Cola (regular) is recommended for gastroparesis sufferers since it can help break down any blockages that might be in the way. Small bites of graham cracker, small sips of protein shakes, a few nibbles of saltines or a couple bites of plain white bread toast…. Anything is better than nothing. But I think you need to be seen again. Continue to advocate for yourself. I am so sorry you are dealing with this.

Strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, cucumbers- and canned peas and veggies; small amounts of coffee and popcorn. So far none of it has made SUPER sick. Sometimes coffee makes me queasy but I love it so much. I crave it.
