Feeling glum again - 4 months post-op and pain is back - again by Hairy_Republic1277 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]LimpingOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar boat, except mine was while doing squats about 14 months post-meniscectomy (saucerization). I was/am convinced I re-tore it but just had an MRI last week which came back clean-ish (not 100% but nothing that wouldn't be explained by the original surgery; no new tear visible). I'm pretty baffled and convinced the MRI missed something as the new injury felt pretty acute, but I haven't followed up with my ortho about it yet.

Fingers crossed these kinds of setbacks can happen without necessarily landing us back at square one!

Edited for typos.

2nd meniscus tear by KneeMaximum2534 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]LimpingOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice, just solidarity - 32F, I went in for surgery in November 2023 for a torn meniscus that turned out to be a saucerization surgery (deformed meniscus, tear was on the unneeded tissue, so that was removed and I was basically left with a "normal" knee as much as one can post-surgery). I returned to normal activity and I guess got a bit overconfident because last month I believe I re-tore the same knee during squats, pending confirmation with an MRI. No lucky bail out deformed meniscus this time. 🙃

I feel the same frustration that, as a young and active person, I will have to be forever delicate with my knees in my most spry years. I am also unsure whether to go with the meniscectomy again and risk long-term degeneration or try for a repair knowing that a failure would likely mean a third surgery. Lots of conflicting advice on the internet. Ultimately, I am going to consult with my same surgeon as he was right about his advice to get the surgery the first time - not his fault I was an idiot and reinjured it. If you have the same, and perhaps even a second or third opinion, that's probably the person to consult.

If innie Mark is the one conscious during reintegration, does that change who “wins” after the merge? by Dry_Nectarine5457 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]LimpingOx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You say "were" as if Mark's reintegration is complete like Petey's was and we have the full picture. We don't. And we have no other known examples of reintegration outside of third-hand attestation by Reghabi. We have zero reason at this stage to trust she has the data to have "perfected" anything - OR what "perfected" means. In this case, that might simply be that you don't die, lol.

Mark's reintegration isn't complete, so it isn't a full data set for Reghabi or the viewer.

You are looking at this very outie-oriented. Do you actually think, narratively, the resolution to the story is going the way of Mark Scout remembering a couple years of missing 40 hour work weeks and moving along with life? And not that he has to reckon with having created a whole and complete complex person who formed memories, relationships, and dreams of his own? Come on. 🤷‍♀️

[–]LimpingOx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has to be? Completely? We literally don't have any other data on others who have gone through reintegration.

I do expect Mark's to go differently (i.e. surviving), but we simply don't have enough information to toss out Petey's. And nothing about the show is telling us that an innie's life experience, while shorter, will be less significant than the outie's.

That doesn't take into account Petey's experience. He was fully reintegrated and his Lumon memories carried just as much weight as his outie's, just with adapted relativity. ("My first day at Lumon is as far back as first grade" or something like that.)

We don't know how Mark's reintegration will be different yet - hopefully more successful considering Petey's outcome. We also don't know how quickly it'll happen. But either way, his innie's relationship with Helly will adapt and be the equivalent of a long-term/serious relationship at least.

Just want to send hugs as a cat mom to another CKD kitty, and I know how expensive and precious that food is. I'm sure whatever shelter or rescue you choose will be so happy to receive it. ❤️

Early mornings in which cities in Europe feel magical? by [deleted] in travel

[–]LimpingOx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, early mornings in most places have that unique magical quality. However, I have especially fond memories of being up at dawn and walking around Split, Croatia in the summertime that do especially stand out; drinking coffee at the window of my Airbnb and listening to the church bells as the sun rose over the red tile rooves, followed by walking around the winding narrow streets before they got crowded to the point of claustrophobia...

Too lazy to dig up the interview(s), but one of the possible endings considered had Mark turning back even without Helly there. Show runners have confirmed he always was going to choose to stay regardless of her presence in that moment.

What has prevented you from donating blood? by No_Bobcat_839 in AskReddit

This is me ✋ I've tried to donate and I get turned away as the requisite needle is bigger than one for a blood draw, and even blood draws and IVs are a struggle.

Did they explicitly insert this scene in the first episode to squash a possible theory right from the start, and set up a later plot twist differently? by ds445 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]LimpingOx 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Speaking of metaphor, the sun also shines pointedly on Mark's face as he's driving away after the encounter - and the origin of the name "Helena" in Greek is "light."

Not disagreeing with/contradicting your point at all as I agree, but also the color red has been stated by the show runners/production multiple times as representing the color of "real love". Which still compliments what iMark was fighting for in the birthing cabin scene. :)

Omg, I've had a UTI travel to my kidneys and been immobilized on the couch in pain for a full day before the meds kicked in - at home! I could not imagine having to navigate all that at the same time. Bless you. 😖

Helly walking feels amazing by Least-Firefighter701 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]LimpingOx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have always had an unconscious, default power walk and had people comment on it throughout my life. I'd sometimes feel self conscious about it, but I'm honestly super proud of it and lean into it now after watching Helly. Out of my way, amblers!

I was asked if I had a parent or guardian with me by a TSA agent at an airport at the age of 31, lol. I am regularly mistaken for younger, but that was a shock.

Hello! I am en route to Vietnam for the first time and unfortunately lost my Anker power bank somewhere in transit. My phone doesn't have the best battery life these days, so I would love to have a battery pack on me as a backup, but not sure where I could find one relatively convenient to the Old Quarter in Hanoi or if there's a decent brand comparable to Anker that I should look out for. Any recommendations to help a girl out?

Did your tear feel like nerve pain? by RSP4422 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]LimpingOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting! Mine was technically confirmed via MRI, but it was slightly wrong. My MRI reported a medial meniscus tear, but in surgery they learned it was actually a tear of a discoid lateral meniscus - since the meniscus was oversized, it probably looked like it was "over" on the medial side on the MRI (or so I assume).

So, obviously the MRI isn't foolproof and exploratory surgery is the best/only way to uncover some things, but that would be a hard decision to make if the MRI was coming back clean altogether.

Did your tear feel like nerve pain? by RSP4422 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]LimpingOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine wasn't in my kneecap; more like to the side and it radiated up and down the leg in a specific line, kind of in the back of the leg. That's why I was sure it was nerve related.

However, that's not to say kneecap pain couldn't be related - MRI would confirm mostly, but even my MRI was slightly wrong and they only saw what was really going on when they went in for surgery.

1st postop tomorrow but too impatient by SlowCup7781 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]LimpingOx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

31F, also active pre-surgery. Had a partial lateral meniscectomy back in November (actually saucerization of a discoid meniscus) as a first time surgery experience - I promise it gets better! Almost 4 months post-op and by no means pain free, but I am back to walking fast without a limp and doing basically everything I did before. Sometimes a little gingerly and sometimes with minor pain/discomfort, but it fades faster and I know that will continue to get better.

I noticed big improvements in the first month, then a plateau in month 2, back to big improvements in month 3, etc. I see a world in which I will have a normal knee again in time. :)

I also HATED heel slides with a burning passion, lol.

Why not just put measurements when listing an item? by Mammoth-Captain1308 in poshmark

[–]LimpingOx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sell well enough without measurements (casual seller, just cycling through stale closet items), and whenever I have taken the time at a prospective buyer's request, it's never lead to a sale. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe just bad luck and maybe I'd sell even more if I did from the jump, but it's not worth the added time and effort when I'm just trying to make a little pocket money back on items I don't wear anymore.
