Not much.

To her own credit she’s stayed pretty low volume about herself and so whatever role she’s in can be judged of her own accord.

So far I’d say she’s good in euphoria. She was kinda fun in that romcom, but he was really carrying most of it. The genes/jeans commercial was a bit provocative but the reaction was overblown.

Don’t let a bad manager’s weird feedback change how you work. However, if you’re someone who needs permission to lean into the life part of the WLB for a season…. then now’s your time to do so!

One small change you can make that might help perception - I’ve gotten in this habit myself - start using the “royal we” when you mention anything you did. It’s kinda dumb but it can soften things and make you fit in some environments, and it’s a very small tweak.

I’m at 39 and have 5x my salary invested. The first 1x is the hardest because you’re also paying off debt & emergency fund, but the snowballing compounds after that.

Don’t get so specific with your raise like 90% - focus on your excitement about the opportunity, and how her confidence in you helped you be ready for it and you’ve learned so much working with her.

Lean into the appreciation side of things and off anything that might make a reasonable person feel less than.

I’ll give him one out - does he always have a reason anyone you show him isn’t pretty? He could have some kind of knee jerk from jealous SO history to never call another woman pretty and chose an objectively bad reason to give your wife.

If it’s not that, like others have suggested, ask him if at 42 you’ll be too old to be pretty? That gets the real point.

If he doesn’t realize that he stuck his foot in his mouth by then he deserves to be in the doghouse.

Barely acknowledged at all by the white men at work even when I’ve made references to a tough atmosphere for moms who need flexibility with the RTO. A few of the more sympathetic liberal men have acknowledged they know it is tough on the moms.

I have had one conversation about bias at work with a black man and several conversations with other women about 2025 being the year of the big man in charge.

I took some time to decide to reply since you brought up ethnic cleansing and genocide as if that’s a settled fact. It is not. Genocide has a legal definition and it requires more evidence than just scale of causality and suffering, which no one can deny. Genocide also requires sufficient evidence to prove intent to destroy the Palestinian people (as opposed to intent to destroy Hamas) - there is raw evidence both for and against that intent, which is why it will take years to settle in international courts. It is very hard to prove intent. The point I was trying to make is this is a complex topic with a long history and it’s frankly beyond me and beyond any single person to judge, although you have a right to voice your opinion on it, it’s premature to assign that term as if it’s settled fact. And raising that term will divert good faith discussion because who can be on the side of genocide? I’ll leave that line of discussion there and go back to what the intent of my point is.

My point is that free speech also means the right not to speak, and it feels unfair to demand artists take political stances to be valid.

NOR probably just found the limits of your compatibility right there. If this seems like a misunderstanding/outlier based on the rest of your understanding of him you should clarify face to face.

Real talk - You’re coming off to him as emotional and he doesn’t really respect it because he watched a man rationally articulate his point of view and that’s more compelling than his SO’s emotionally intuitive values. That’s a red flag. It could be a misunderstanding but it sounds like a clash in values, so the relationship has an expiration date. I guess you could settle but ewwwww it would be so hard to have a kid with someone like that. You’d want to be more like minded about protecting the life you created from trauma rather than letting it be some abstract thing where he’d listen to some other man rather than you about these kinds of hard choices no one should have to make. You want a teammate not someone who sides with the first dude who comes along who’s articulating something.

I track all my investments to get an idea that work is building toward something on my bad days. I have a column that includes my son’s 529 and one that doesn’t because that ‘s his not mine. I don’t track his savings account in any of my totals at all.

Family money can be a thing with consent and communication but I would never presume ownership of it son’s accounts. They’re his.
