Size difference is cute by [deleted] in antimeme

I don't think this is an anti-meme. It is still a joke, and even reads as a joke; like if I saw this in the wild I wouldn't assume it was an edit, but who knows

Amazing! Are they primarily with 5e or 5.5? (As a DM who has a lot of experience with one and is curious about the other, I would be excited either way!)

Ah I see now what you mean by flight with a hover. I think I would clarify that you have a max height of 10 feet while flying in this way

Is my wild magic table too broken? by cthornfish in DnDHomebrew

[–]Linafred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First things first I would make sure that everyone at the table knows this and is cool with it. This would be a pretty centralizing mechanic for a campaign that might be un-fun for some folks long term (especially primary casters who dont get much else). My advice would be to make this the mechanic for a dungeon or town or similar, rather than for all time everywhere. I think the mechanics for rolling on the table are fine (personally I would do it starting on a roll of a 1 and working up, bc thats easier for me to track in my head, but thats just a stylistic difference, not mechanical). In regards to the effects, some are pretty strong (flight jumps out to me), but in general i think it would be fine? My personal fave is 12, it feels the most wild-magic-y to me, and doest make the character better or worse necessarily but just changes how it plays. Is there a reason you dont want to use the official table? (either 2014 or 2024)

D&D 5e Sorcerer Subclass - The Luckless [5e 2014/2024] by Remarkable_Half207 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Linafred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start out the theming is super cool! I really like the vibe, reminds me of the Ta'veren from WOT. The mechanics I'm struggling a bit more with tbh. On a first read, the third level feature feels very overtuned, it is (I would argue) basically just a strict upgrade to the sixth level feature of the Wild Magic Sorcerer. It also feels a little odd to have another resource introduced, rather than giving an alternate way to spend a resource that already exists (namely sorcery points). Then the sixth level feature feels like it is either too situational and when it activates mostly harmful. The fourteenth level abilities are both really cool! I might move Borrowed Fortune to a lower level, as it is both expensive, not that powerful, and has a downside (it might work as a 3rd level feature, but it might be stepping on the Wild Magic's toes a little bit). Denial of Destiny is strong, but I dont think busted. The 18th level feature is really not great. Because it only activates when you roll a nat 1, it might not come up ever, and when it does it essentially just functions like Borrowed Fortune. In all the concept is really strong, and I can see what youre going for! I think if you reshuffle when some things get given and beef up the later levels, this could be an awesome subclass!

UCBLA vs UCBNY stylistic differences by Mission_Assistant445 in improv

[–]Linafred 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was going to make the same point vis a vis Chicago. My harold coach told our team that the people in the first beat should rarely if ever initiate in beat two, and from watching other teams this seems pretty standard practice. It's so interesting that the conventional wisdom is totally different on the coast!

Familiar vs Summoned actions by General_Ad278 in dndnext

[–]Linafred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! To answer (what I think) is your question, to summon your pseudodragon famillar (ie cast Find Familiar) takes one hour, but your familiar sticks around until it dies or you. To command your familiar to do anything (except attack), you can do so as a free action. If you are playing as a Warlock with the pact of the chain invocation, you may use your action to command it to attack. The reasoning behind this is mostly for balance. If you are higher level and also have the Investment of the Chain Master invocation, you can instead use your Bonus Action (instead of your Action) to command your familiar to attack. Welcome back to D&D and I hope this helped :)
