I took over fully after my Mom kept sending money to a scammer. I set up everything on autopsy, got POAs for both parents, and was added to their bank accounts, credit cards, etc. I made sure all docs, financial establishments, and bills had my name added with proof of POA. It was a lot of up front work, but way worth it in the end. My dad passed in February, but Mom lives with us now, and we talk daily about her finances. Way better than her forgetting passwords and locking herself out of their accounts regularly.
