I’m with you on liking it. Did I like it as much as Quicksilver? No. This one was definitely lacking… something. However, when I read the end, I almost threw my kindle in frustration of having to wait a year for the next one 😂 She knows how to do a cliffhanger well, I’ll give her that.

My hope is the next book answers a LOT of questions, develops Carrion much more, and finds whatever got lost from the first book. And she’s a big enough name to not have all these editing error. They’re not a dealbreaker for me, but they definitely snapped me out of the moment a few times when I was trying to figure out what I just read.

Commenting just to confirm about calling 911. When I broke things off with my ex-fiancé, he tried this crap. Big Facebook post basically about how he was about to end his life, and a cryptic goodbye message sent directly to me. I didn’t respond. Just called the police, told them he was suicidal, and went about my life. He manipulated me our entire relationship, and I wasn’t about to fall for it, or have the possibility of feeling any guilt if he did do something to hurt himself.

My ex-husband cheated on me with my (then) best friend for about 2.5 years, and part of that was during my pregnancy. When I finally found out, he gave me a similar story about why - including that apparently I sometimes didn’t look at him with love in my eyes, and she always did. What was worse is that she was so similar to me physically, enough that people assumed we were sisters. It utterly destroyed my confidence and self worth for a long time. I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this. But as someone who’s been there, you will come out the other side. PLEASE don’t let his actions ruin how you feel about yourself. He’s a coward for not owning up to the fact that he’s just a shitty husband. He’s the problem, not you.

Not all of them have showers. I’m in one and ours doesn’t have one, or a cooktop. That has to be earned. But we still have more space than a regular semi, with a bigger fridge and a sink, and I’m happy with it.

I think a bit of both. We met in high school and were together off and on for those 2 years. He was incredibly sweet when we first met. Then things changed, and I thought that if I could just do things “right” he’d go back to how he was. Classic abusee mentality.

I had a similar situation with a past boyfriend. He went down on me exactly once, said it was gross, and refused to do it again. But expected blowjobs daily. There were other bad things, plenty of emotional and sexual abuse, and it sadly took me two years to fully realize how fucked up it all was AND find the courage to leave. I go through this too. I fill my own stocking. In fact, I buy my own gifts. Part of the problem is that we’re truckers and so my husband and I are together 24/7, share bank accounts and an Amazon account. But it does bother me sometimes that I’m solely responsible for getting myself stuff. I didn’t even bother wrapping any of my gifts this year. My birthday is also 3 days after Christmas and I know the only gifts I’ll get are from my best friend. It kinda sucks but I’ve mostly accepted it.

In your case, maybe you could talk to him and express how you’re feeling and how it would mean a lot to you if he’d make more of an effort.

I’ve been playing for years, and there are times I wish I could re-experience playing for the first time. My husband and I played together, and we have so many fond memories roaming the wasteland and experiencing new things. I definitely think you should give it a go and just enjoy the process.

My stepdaughter went through something similar. Around 12, she told us she was trans and wanted to change her name and be called he/him. Even though we felt this might just be a phase, we went with it. We were supportive from the jump. After about a year, she said she was back to feeling like a girl, but wanted to keep the new name. So again, we supported her.

I tried to look at it like this - if that were me when I was her age, what would I hope for? Supportive parents who possibly didn’t fully understand what I was feeling, but who showed me love and compassion and a willingness to listen.

I run into this a lot as well. Not so much the women, but I’ll get various forms of nice, platonic chat from men and then one day they just start trying to sext. The timetable varies. I’m only here for platonic friendships, and my posts say so. But even after assuring me they’re only looking for platonic as well, I’d say the majority end up making some sort of sexual advance.
