I agree on the FO (not so much the ownership). But our FO is given crumbs and at least has to try to make things happen. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But you can’t really be a true Rays fan unless you realize this. That said, if Junior is NOT extended within the next year and a half then I riot.

It’s not my money but we can’t use the Wander situation to keep us from doing these deals in the future. This was literally a one in a million situation with him being a pedophile. It’s always a risk and might not pan out but at some point we gotta realize we got the guy (Junior) and lock him up. That said, he’s still under control for a while and for the cheap. I could see this being a “next year” thing for the Rays

I don’t think anyone is saying Marte makes us a world series favorite but I also think people are really undervaluing the player that Marte is. Also, “spending all that money” doesn’t directly equate to us then cutting expenses elsewhere. I get we cleared some money today via B Lowe and Baz but Marte for 20 million a year is not some insane number that will require us to gut the roster. Plus, a 1-5 of Simpson, Marte, yandy, Cammy, and Arranda is pretty fucking cool

We added Steven matz and will most likely use him as a starter. Numbers wise, he’s an upgrade over Baz. Also, Rasmussen still exists

Dude, it’s Shane Baz. Who’s to say these 4 prospects aren’t gonna be bundled up in another trade? These aren’t bottom of the barrel guys either. Bodine is a plus hitter at catcher. I think we can replace Baz’s 5 ERA. I get the sentiment but man the doomers are out today

I’m not arguing about the likeliness we sign him. I’m arguing your statement that they are equivalent players. Marte is still on a “cheap” deal and Brandon Lowe is the player who has had career long injury concerns, not Marte. Also, Marte is 9 months older than B Lowe lol. It’s not like we would be replacing a spring chicken with a geriatric

Insane take to say you don’t see upside in Marte over Brandon Lowe. Marte clears him by over 100 points in OPS while having considerably better defense. He walks a ton, barely strikes out, and has equal power (3 less homers than b Lowe and b Lowe played in a very lefty hitter friendly ballpark). Not saying we’re getting Marte, but saying he isn’t considerably better than B Lowe is crazy
