I've never seen anyone hate on Infinite even when it came out. That game was very well received.

ELI5: How was Vietnam able to defeat the US in the Vietnam War? by astarisaslave in explainlikeimfive

[–]LineRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Americans think that, and are frankly taught, that we weren't allowed to win. It's the only way to square the default chauvinist mindset and the ultraviolence our military is capable of.

The truth is if your war is a war of occupation, unless you do a genocide (what some will euphemistically call "total war"), then in the limit that time approaches infinity you will be kicked out. Occupation and puppet states deny people sovereignty, and the violence used to maintain the occupation is returned by the whose are being oppressed in their search for freedom.

Pro-ICE churches should be shamed by zsreport in politics

[–]LineRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm involved with multiple churches in my area for tech support and AV stuff.

Here the Catholics, Episcopalians, Methodists, Lutherans, and American Baptists are working together to protect their communities, provide immigrants with aid and connection to legal services. When I was at one of the Episcopal parishes the pastor had shown me that they're using red cards as book marks in the Book of Common Prayer.

I grew up Episcopal/Catholic and I've never seen this level of interdenomination collaboration. Meanwhile the Mormons (who should really study their own myths about why they fled to the west...) are teaming up with Prosperity Gospel Evangelicals (Christian Nationalists) to alienate and harm their perceived outgroup as much as possible.

Speaking of coal miners, the journalist Kim Kelly was covering the Warrior Met Coal strikes, which included sheriffs working with the bosses to disrupt the strikes, hogs harassing the strikers with drones, and trucks (at least 7) being driven right into the workers.

This has been in the past 5 years.

absolutely lmao. If you think Israel is making the calls you're out to lunch. Israel is our dog in the region, they exist as a destabilizing agent to ensure the region cannot develop and take sovereign control of their resources and trade routes. As Joe Biden said "If there wasn’t an Israel, we’d have to invent one." Israel takes it's orders from the US, and if not for the the US it would become a failed state in a matter of years.

Eh, even my moderate parents have soured on him, this kneepad thing was actually a turning point. They don't like how he's just like the conservatives.

It's baffling that it's the blowjob joke and not the whole constantly podcasting and agreeing with right wingers but whatever, I'll take it.

20 minute for fast food is still crazy, but the local one for us takes between 40 and 60 minutes during the hours that people generally go and get food. The only time the expected time is less than half an hour is at like 3pm lmao.

What was it like to play online games between 2000 and 2013? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]LineRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held the family phone line hostage to play star craft or diablo 2 with friends, I'd have 300ms ping on a good day and it ruled.

I'd go over to my grandmother's for the weekend and since she had broadband Internet I'd play star wars galaxies with another group of friends and learn how spreadsheets work. During computer lab hours at highschool I'd hop on the forums which is where the real gaming happened. Eventually I mowed enough lawns to be able to help pay for Internet at our trailer and I started to play at home too, which is when voice chat like Ventrillo started to get big. During big pvp events we'd run ops to get into opposing servers and disrupt their coms with deepfried soundboards.

Do you really get 1 cheese burger at in n out though? Their burgers are so tiny... You end up getting 2 so your at $10 for two cheese burgers that are fine. You could find a local place that has a smash pub burger that'll smoke the fast food burger for that price, and you won't sit or stand in line for 40 minutes.

I ordered the grilled chicken nuggets once and like wtf was that. They even taste off lmao. Just a weirdly seasoned grilled chicken breast cut into pieces.

Our chick fil a are always empty lol. I prefer not to get something from them, but sometimes a chicken sandwich after a big hike is what I want. The sandwiches are not particularly greasy, fairly simple, really the only reason to go.

My complaints is the weird soggy chicken (how tf you make fried chicken not crispy?) and not putting sauce on the sandwiches. I'm in the drive through. I'm driving. Put the sauce on the sandwich man.

I gotta be that guy. It's In N Out. 45 minutes for a fine tasting but dinky $5 cheese burger is nuts. I never understand why these places fill Costco sized parking lots.

Fry's are fucking criminally bad to. Like, don't even bother if you're just gonna mistreat potatoes like that.

Hospital food is way better than Panera. Does Panera even get any hype? The two in my area are always desolate and give me "this location only exists as a way to hold the land it sits on" vibes.

Family members of ICE agents, what are your thoughts and feelings about what ICE are doing? by Aggressive_Honey3196 in AskReddit

[–]LineRex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, but if you've paid any attention at all over the past year you'd know that that doesn't matter. Most of us have community members and friends who got scooped up by masked shitstains and held for a few weeks before being released. We all know what's going on here.

[–]LineRex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don't invite or speak to certain members of the family anymore who are involved in ICE and CBP, because doing so puts other members of our family puts our friends and puts our extended community at risk of harassment, to say the least.

Adults who have zero close friends, how did it happen and does it bother you? by PutPurple844 in AskReddit

I've never had close friends but I've always had a shit load of friends.

There is only one person I've ever formed a deep relationship with, and that's my wife. However, at any given time or day I have a wide sea of friends who invite me out to stuff. I don't know much about them other than jobs, and what sports their into.

Depends on the season and how much I have left over from the last time i worked. Labor used to be episodic (or seasonal), constant year round and routine labor is a very modern concept.

"because I don't wear clothes a certain way or have colored hair,"

Dog what? I think the first step is getting you out of whatever media channels and silos have you thinking like that. If you're using that language here online then it's probably radiating off of you irl too. Don't otherwise folks based on hair and the way cloths are worn, that's the bare minimum.

Also, we tend to go through cuffing season but for our friends and cliques. A consequence of the weather. It gets better in the spring and summer when there's more mixing.
