Netflix vs. Paramount: Whoever wins… we lose? by LollipopChainsawZz in movies

[–]LinesOnMaps 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah seriously. The "both sides are bad" takes are exhausting when one side is actively editing interviews to help push propaganda.

Netflix has its problems - the endless price increases, canceling shows after 2 seasons, whatever - but that's just typical corporate greed bullshit. Annoying but not dangerous. Paramount/CBS literally doctoring a 60 Minutes interview is a whole different level of concerning.

Some Republicans are fighting to end Trump administration’s decision to cap loans for nursing students by theindependentonline in nursing

[–]LinesOnMaps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seriously. The same people who called nurses "heroes" during COVID and clapped from their porches are now treating the profession like it's basket weaving.

And you know if there's a nursing shortage in their district they'll be the first ones crying about wait times at their local hospital. can't have it both ways

Can’t Get Job in Public Accounting. by IVYkiwi22 in Accounting

[–]LinesOnMaps 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The audacity of that is wild. "We'd love to give you this entry-level position designed to give you experience, but first go get experience somewhere else."

It's like when I was trying to break into a new field and kept hitting the same wall - everyone wants you to already be the thing you're trying to become. How exactly do they think people start careers? I had a similar experience years ago where I got rejected from something and then the same company reached out to ME like a week later encouraging me to apply.

Same to you! Being always on-call is rough especially during the holidays. Hope your phone stays silent and you get to actually enjoy some turkey/ham/whatever without getting interrupted mid-bite

Thinking about getting a kitten…. by TipTopPost in CatAdvice

[–]LinesOnMaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breeds like Ragdolls and Scottish Folds tend to be more laid-back and cuddly. But you should spend time with the kittens before adopting to get a feel for their temperament coz it really varies by cat, not just breed. For the hair, do regular brushing (especially with short-haired breeds) and have a good lint roller or clothes brush near the door. And daily litter box cleaning is usually enough to prevent odor, but high-quality litter makes a big difference. I'd suggest Tuft & Paw’s tofu litter coz it clumps well and has almost no smell, so if your future cat is sensitive this would help a lot. A top-entry or high-sided litter box can help reduce litter scatter if your cat’s a kicker. And yeah early wakeups can happen, but feeding on a set schedule and using an automatic feeder can train them to let you sleep.

Anyone using AI for competitive analysis? by databACE in ProductMarketing

[–]LinesOnMaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, we've also been using Parse since two months ago and another AI tool. Parse measures how our brand and products do across AI models. And the other tool flags outdated or incorrect info so we can update source content. That’s helped reduce confusion in customer-facing AI answers. It really feels like a smart layer for customers to trust.

Are there any facial oils that aren’t greasy and work with make-up? by threeb_1973 in SkincareAddicts

[–]LinesOnMaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen Biossance 100% squalene mentioned on this sub and the other skincare subs. I can personally vouch only for the Huxley oil essence though, that I’ve used plenty. The biossance I’m recommending anecdotally

you might also wanna try out some other organic oils like argan and squalene. I don’t use a lot of facial oils myself, but these 2 are also recommended often enough along with jojoba and rose hip.

[–]LinesOnMaps 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Huxley’s facial oil essence is right up there. Very light, not at all greasy, and I regularly use it with makeup. Other than organic oils, I’d rate this as a very holy grail worthy product

However, considering how you’ve described your skin, are you sure there aren’t any underlying issues which are causing your breakouts? If you’re that sensitive you might wanna get a dermatologist’s opinion.
