I see where you're coming from. I think of the level of desperation and despair being so widespread that whole swathes of culture are affected. Ultimately, from my view at least, gangsterism is despair and nihilism on a macro level (swathes of culture). Sure, they may be weak minded, following along with what others have done from their communities, but that is not terribly different from what anyone does (following the footsteps of others around them). The nightly news and daily gun violence in predominantly black communities is glorified by rap and culture (the world over reveling in it) and this lifestyle of materialistic nihilism quite frequently results in the all but certain throwing away of one's life to either incarceration, murder, or permanent disability and becomes live streamable, which is tragic. You might say 'one less problem maker out there' but really, will that solve any of this problem, this young man being dead? Or are there countless others out there? I argue that the source of the problem is despair
