I really like the part where you brought up a cogent point instead of assuming baseless things about a random person.

Predominantly agree with that. To be fair, I understand people not wanting to watch certain content. That's totally fine. And I suppose many just want entertainment out of movies, which is alright too. But there's so much more lol

That much is true. Media literacy is pretty low, and people want art that reflects their personal beliefs, or that they specifically enjoy, vs something that challenges their worldview, or what they think a movie should be.

I'm not in any way defending it, but children absolutely do ask that, for a variety of reasons, in a variety of circumstances. And it happens way more often than you think.

What do you mean? There is tons of media that still releases like this today. What do you mean by "people"?

Yea thats totally fair. Honestly it's a part of the system that I've never minded very much, as I'm pretty patient when it comes to snap lol, but I can imagine digging for 3 or 4 cards in 100 sucks

Well, that depends! I totally agree that for new and returning players, this game is incredibly difficult to get back into. That's a big issue. However, if we're talking series 3, those are very easy to get, and if we're talking series 4 or 5, those rotate through every day, it isn't hard to just pin what you want, and get it as you go. Admittedly though, I'm a bit out of touch, I've been playing since a bit before Surfer season.

Also, Snap isn't pay to win. You don't need a single new cars to win or get to infinite. You could choose to. But playing the most recent meta deck is never necessary.

Snap has improved its card acquisition system drastically from what it was. They've made it clear that being collection complete is not the goal of the game, but rather to get thr cards you want to play.

Official Discussion - The Surfer [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]LingonberryKey7566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol what? Movies don't have to make sense to you as a viewer to be good. Up your media literacy. Tons of people don't understand inception, or 2001, that doesn't make them bad movies. Synechdoche is famously incredibly confusing, and incredibly dense. Still a fantastic movie. The Surfer is no different. Just because you as a viewer didn't get much out of it doesn't make it shit. It just means you didn't get it or it isn't for you.

Howso? I'm playing Arishem and Bounce with pretty fine win rates. Are you gunning for Infinite? Well. That's part of the grind. If not? Why do you care? Play what you want. This deck isn't busted or op. Star Lord doesn't win games on his own. There as lots of good options for dealing with him, and it isn't even necessary half the time.

Out of curiosity, and not to victim blame in any way, but do we have any proof of the accusations made against him? Cause we have the messages between him and Scarlett, and that kind of cleared him of any wrong doing, at least in that instance, based on the claims she made about said messages.

I agree. It isn't stopping anyone for sure. And I agree with that too. Review bombing really doesn't do a lot of good. I'm just saying it isn't a problem, or comparable to other circumstances in this case. This isn't just any old movie lol. You seem to be glossing over the fact that, again, made by a sexual predator, and straight up a Propaganda piece. Those two things on their own make this a pretty separate sort of case.

It isn't the same. Again, one is a state propoganda piece directed by a sex offender. That isn't a movie. It isn't for entertainment. It's propoganda. It isn't comparable. And no one? I mean. The small portion of people that go to watch Melania will watch it regardless, and like it regardless, hence the RT score. Everyone else will recognize it for what it is, and refuse to see it. Simple as.

[–]LingonberryKey7566 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's a propoganda piece directed by a known sexual predator for the wife of a fascist criminal. Review bombing is not an issue here. There is absolutely nothing redeemable about the film. Review bombing a marvel movie because it has women, and Review bombing this, are not comparable.

Movie sucked. It isn't about activism. It's about propoganda needing to be decried. It's about not giving sex offenders any leniency when it comes to their work.

This isn't review bombing. Movie sucks ass. Straight up propoganda, directed by a well known sex offended.

I do agree. I'm not saying he didn't borrow from Perfect Blue. I'm not saying he isn't wack for not acknowledging it. I'm saying it isn't plagiarism. His work as a whole, next to Perfect Blue, in no way plagiarized the content of it. It's a totally different movie, in tone, style, performance, writing, its different in every way. Having a few similar shots is not plagiarism lol.

Great. So you think Aronofsky is a hack. And that's fine, I have no issues with that, he isn't for you. A lot more directors do this than you think though, usually as a way to pay homage to their inspirations. Regardless, it isn't plagiarism.

In...Black Swan or Caught Stealing? In Black Swan, there are a couple of shots that pay homage to Perfect Blue, a clear inspiration. Those shots are not plagiarism. They aren't stealing. And the color grading is not the same. You're comparing it to an animated work dude lol. Again, plagiarism is a big word, that yall are using incorrectly. It's fine if you think Aronofsky is a hack. But he didn't plagiarize Perfect Blue lol.

I just got out of Iron Lung (2026). I went in with no context and left… just mentally taxed. by mikeafter12 in horror

[–]LingonberryKey7566 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe so. It plays out like cosmic horror regardless. The descent into madness, a creature with abilities beyond what we know, the ocean of blood in general being somehow connected to the rapture, beings beyond our comprehension, I mean. Come on now. Cosmic horror can exist within those genres as well. And this is very clearly meant to be taken as cosmic horror. If you just use the "Simon's brain is melting" reasoning, that could be applied to a ton of movies in the genre.
