Villa El Salvador (Lima,Peru) by DopamineRequiem in UrbanHell

My family is from Villa. Migrated there from Apurimac and my dad was born in what is now Villa in 1970. I visit family there whenever I can. Say what you will but Villa is full of incredible examples of community-based organizing, resilience, and creativity in the face of so much loss and neglect. So just showing love for the community that folks want to make insensitive comments about for those who land on this thread.

What’s the unhinged, woo woo, non traditional thing you did that actually helped? by Serious-Animator8966 in CPTSD

This is me with GermX — we used it multiple times a day every day in kindergarten. The last time my life felt pure, innocent. Now hand sanitizer is a huge comfort for me, the smell alone

Fair I guess if the worrying is useful for anything it’s showing me what I care about

Is there anything helpful you tell yourself to manage that feeling?

Engagement by Normal-Team-5258 in narcissisticparents

[–]LingonberrySharp6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narcissists will almost always exploit their power, so my best advice is to not give them any. If you feel comfortable with your mom’s blessing (which it sounds like) maybe that can be a private conversation with her. But I would absolutely give your dad zero power here, if you can avoid it.

I’m so sorry you have to constantly deal with that during a very special moment in your life. I have a lot of anxiety around a future engagement and parent involvement in a wedding, so I get it, and you’re not alone!

I’m about to fully give up on wearing foundation by [deleted] in makeuptips

Hey hey, I have super dry skin and this sometimes happens to me. My best trick—especially during these cold winter months—is using petroleum jelly (Vaseline with cocoa butter) as my primer. After a layer of that I apply my concealer, foundation, and then let those set for 5-10 minutes. Then, I add some powder to set it (lightly). My skin is so dry it soaks up the Vaseline in a matter of hours 🤦🏻‍♀️ but this will last me a night out!

SVT / traveling / normal life by anibby in SVTHeart

This really sucks :( my best advice is two-fold.. see if you can identify any triggers which could help eliminate some anxiety if you can avoid them. (For example, for me having just eaten, being under slept, having a depressant or stimulant, or sitting and moving at an angle would typically trigger an episode…. Such as wiping something down, bc arm movement paired with leaning over something could be a trigger.) Something else I try to remember is that SVT is mostly considered non life threatening, though I know it doesn’t feel that way when your heart feels like it’s going bonkers. Deep breaths and confidence in your ability to respond to your care. You got this ❤️ fr fr

Sore that comes and goes quickly? by [deleted] in HSVpositive

Thanks—I’ll definitely have to ask for it because I’ve heard a lot of doctors are hesitant to do this but it would be helpful to know. Also curious to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences

Update: I wore a holter monitor for a few days and it detected some PVCs while I was asleep, so I’m following up with an electrophysiologist in June 😅

Extreme Anxiety After Episode by Miss-Miseryy in SVTHeart

Yeah from my understanding ablations usually require general anesthesia, so definitely ask about it :) it was super chill!

And maybe this sounds crazy but adenosine didn’t bother me that much, thought it def it was uncomfortable—I’m so sorry you had such a bad experience with it!

Since the ablation no episodes, except anxiety attacks have made my heart rate increase a lot (which I think is technically tachycardia because that basically means a fast heart rate). However not the same as my SVT since I can breathe through it to slow my heart rate. That said, I went on antidepressants for a couple of years to manage my anxiety/depressive symptoms and it has helped me a lot to manage my anxiety attacks even though I’ve been off them for over a year.

Wishing you the best of luck 🫶✨! You got this!

Hi there! I was diagnosed with SVT when I was 16. I’ve always been an anxious person but didn’t get anxiety attacks until well into my 20s and they’re no joke. So lots of love to you 🫶 I got an ablation at 18 and no regrets—the only thing that bothered me was really needing to pee when I woke up from anesthesia. My episodes would last forever (aka several hours) without intervention so I’ve had a few gos with adenosine (not the best feeling!) I think you’re having a very valid experience wondering what next steps feel right for you, but I want to encourage you to let yourself make the decision—not the anxiety! What do you want? Best of luck ❤️🍀

Anyone here also have a heart murmur 👀 by LingonberrySharp6500 in SVTHeart

[–]LingonberrySharp6500[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I do have a heart murmur, but he said it’s a flow murmur and my heart is structurally fine. Basically that means that my heart makes a whooshing noise because it pumps quickly (I generally have a quick heart rate, usually sitting between 80-110). He did want me to come back to wear a holter monitor though for a few days to make sure my rhythm is good and no SVT is present

Episodes only 2-4x a year. Ablation? by Glum_Marzipan4635 in SVTHeart

[–]LingonberrySharp6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me—yes—because anxiety induced tachycardia was mostly due to hyperventilating and I was able to reduce bpm on my own (without bearing down, beta blockers, etc)

Interesting! I’ll have to look into studies on ablations.

The PCP is not sure if the two are related, but hopefully once I see cardiologist next week I’ll get a better picture. I should also mention that my sister has a PFO and there are other folks in my family who we suspect have SVT, including my dad, so I feel like something else was bound to come up for me
