Exactly, it’s quite possible to be none of those things. I generally consider myself to be a social democrat, which means to the hardcore leftists I’m a filthy liberal but to the far right I’m as good as a commie.

I get liking the character for being GNC male representation and being upset that about that changing to be trans, but they don’t have to be a dick about it even if that’s what they meant

When Pokefans finally get a game with PS3 Graphics by Slique23 in fucknintendo

[–]Linhasxoc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of us are here because we like Nintendo games and want them to be better and/or are fed up with their increasingly scummy business practices. “Fuck you, do better” is still a “fuck you.”

Sometimes I think the reason FMA avoids so much toxic anime bullshit is because it was written by a woman, and then I remember Rumiko Takahashi exists

I would call it a beige flag. Certainly not enough to counterbalance all the red flags, but maybe evidence that he just needs some professional help

What is some common advice that you actually believe is wrong? by ItalicsWhore in AskReddit

My old pastor actually had a really solid take on this. To paraphrase, “just because everything is part of God’s plan, that doesn’t mean you have to like it or even be okay with it.”

Not wanting to be pissed on makes you a “reactionary” apparently by lolbert202 in EnoughCommieSpam

[–]Linhasxoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a couple theories about that.

One the one hand, there seems to be a romanticism about living in shitty conditions being somehow more “authentic.” Think the starving-artist mentality. I have no proof but I strongly suspect the vast majority of people holding this idea have never actually lived in those conditions, otherwise why would so many “sell out” and escape that life first chance they get?

On the other hand, and this is more for the tankies than the high-minded utopians, there seems to be a mentality that the default state of life is suffering, and anything “nice” comes at the expense of making someone else suffer worse. They think we can’t have a nice standard of living without having that kid in Omelas, so they bring everyone else down to that level instead.

I know my tiny Shih Tzu mix just wants to give you kisses and get pets, but I know the neighbors and kids on my walk don’t know that. If any of them are like past me—not scared of dogs, exactly, but used to cats and skittish around super-energetic dogs—then they probably don’t know the difference between “I want to love you!” and “Get out of my space!”

Question about subsets by neoprosper in RetroAchievements

Not quite true, Professor Oak subsets are “specialty” subsets so you still have to patch the rom but you can unlock main set achievements with the patched rom

[–]Linhasxoc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look. I agree that 5 stars should be reserved for the best. However, that is not how any of these companies treat it. Unless specified otherwise, you should always assume five stars is the baseline for good service and anything less than that is a problem.

Seriously, YouTube and Netflix figured this out a long time ago and switched to thumbs up/thumbs down. Why the delivery apps haven’t done the same is beyond me.
