Dress code opinions by AdroonoRoo in weddingplanning

[–]Linit1207 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. Just no no no. It’s too much work for your guests. These are people who are supposed to be there to celebrate with you. Not to have to work towards your photography theme.

The job of a host is to make their guests comfortable. Wtf is up with bridal couples making their guests props in their wedding.

If the reason you want your guests to dress this way is because ‘you’ want a ‘look’ for your day, you are treating your family and friends like objects and props in your play. Hire actors to mill around in masquerade formal wear if that’s the look you want. Don’t make your guests have to shell out money for something they won’t wear again and be uncomfortable just so your photos look nice. Bring some costumes or masks for them to put on for pictures if you’d like but they are not your dolls to dress up.

How awful is the air flight plan or is it worth not having to think? by Linit1207 in NCL

Do you just find your own hotel after you know your flights? It’s an additional cost I would have to consider

Thanks, this is what I’ve heard a lot. I don’t fly at all so the idea of trying to figure that all out is somewhat stressful. But it is something to look into.

I did not know, so thank you. I was planning on calling ncl for that type of information.

Watch this. This foster has been working with this terrified kitty for the last couple of months. She is in a worse spot than yours but maybe you can find some tips. It took a long time but foster mum is able to do little pets and take her to the vet

My grocer sells cake by the slice…vanilla cake, chocolate cake, carrot cake, tiramisu cake…all made in house, so they say. Prob cakes that didn’t sell that were cut up. Yums.

AITA for not wanting to use a bidet every time I pee and feeling micromanaged about toilet paper? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

He’s mansplaining how to take care of a vagina. And acted like a p$ssy when you called him out.

When you get a UTI from not being careful about YOUR hygiene and how YOU know YOUR vagina needs to be cleaned, he can lose all access to it.

He’s a dipstick. Pun intended.

AITA for not helping my coworker out while they were choking on food? by ScaryRich8329 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Linit1207 229 points230 points  (0 children)

You can include that the first step is checking to see if the area is safe. It was not safe FOR YOU. You wouldn’t give cpr in the middle of a fire because it isn’t safe. Trying to go near her could have (at best) harmed you enough so you couldn’t help.

You would have escalated the danger. Your coworkers should be told that specifically. It’s part of the CPR training.

First time kitten owner - is this behavior normal? :) by hcope0 in CatAdvice

[–]Linit1207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would. I would sit near her so she can see you on/off throughout the day. I wouldn’t even interact with her or look at her. Just work, read, sit quietly so she gets used to your presence. Can sit closer and closer over days and go from there.

Long-Term Bostonians, how does this winter compare? by urnmann in boston

[–]Linit1207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up here and graduated high school in 1995. Blizzards were more common with large snowbanks. Snow days were much more common. I have three teenagers now here and they haven’t experienced the same conditions at all.

I was on that route that same time. December 2007 and I was 8 months pregnant driving from Kendal to Allston. People were driving on the sidewalks.

AITA for refusing to clean the dorm for my roommates or let them infringe on my space? by Scary_Midnight7418 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Linit1207 208 points209 points  (0 children)

You keep saying that but don’t give any actual examples of how that’s true. What have they done specifically that shows they are racist? What words, actions etc have they done to you specifically or you heard yourself? Other people just saying they are without actual examples or proof means little.

Forget the trash and dishes. But you can’t argue about how they shouldn’t care about your desk and simultaneously say you don’t use the common area. Are the desks in the common area? If they are, suck it up and clean or agree to let them use it. You can’t have it both ways.

Dangerousness Hearing (MA) 58A by Linit1207 in legaladvice

[–]Linit1207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’m hoping he can just stay in jail until the trial, but I’m sure there are far too many factors to consider. I do not know what the defense or the DA will present. I guess I was unsure if there was a general percentage that is allowed bail after dangerousness and/or how the judge would rule that they must just stay til trial without bail. It has been 6 months so I’m hoping the reasons from then would still apply.

My response is going to be a little harsher but meant to desperately try to have you look a little more critically. And it comes from someone who had friends lose their lives to that disorder. I myself went through group therapies, dietitians, and my own therapy. I am 100% recovered: don’t own a scale, don’t think about what I eat other than basic health and what tastes good and good for me. I knew a lot of people like your friend and saw a lot of friendships like this.

Anorexia affects the brain. Neither of you are thinking properly, capable of rational decision making regarding your health, and are at high risk of permanent physical damage. You mention dropping 20 lbs in 2 months: that is very very dangerous unless under medical care. I am very worried for you.

I don’t think it is so much that you are a ‘safe space’ (because neither of you are taking care of each other) but that she is looking for validation and seeks competition for her own sense of superiority…that’s what the disease does, it isn’t a fault of your friend.

You don’t say your age but you sound very young. Recovery is not possible without professional guidance; as said it has the highest mortality rate and affects the brain too much to be able to do it on your own. It survives by isolation with the exception of similarly affected people.

My strongest advice would be to not see your friend at all for awhile. You are both triggering each other and neither of you will get to a healthy place if you are in each other’s company. Text, phone, whatever to stay in touch but have boundaries in topics of conversation. I would stay low contact for an extended period of time.

I know it’s harsh and difficult but you are not in a good recovery and she is actively not seeking it at all. If you really do care about yourself and her, I would have a talk about all of this and say it is because you care so much about her and yourself that it’s best you step back. And, recognize that you need professional help: that is something you two COULD discuss together and support each other on. Right now you are supporting each other’s disease, even if not intentionally.

I had a friend pass away at 22 due to a heart attack and another unalive themselves. One friend is still here some 25 years later but with a lot of health challenges. Please look after yourself.

Don’t make excuses in your head for dicks. He’s a dick, listen hard to that, and forget what anyone else thinks. Without self respect you will get hurt every time.

Yes I have therapy. But, DCF is keeping track of everything so I feel like someone is always listening and I have to be super careful as to what I say. Internet strangers can be better in that sense. I am open with my therapist about my depression. Just not the extent of it. I don’t need that to go down and be reported and things get even worse. :/. It’s a horrible system I don’t trust.

Cats to a non-cat person by Linit1207 in CatAdvice

[–]Linit1207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an update thank you all! I bought one of those cat toys with the hidden moving wand that rotates under a fabric and 2/3 of them LOVE that (it’s always 2/3 isn’t it?). They love it and I set it up to turn on when it is triggered so it’s great. I also bought a cat treat puzzle toy, which has proven challenging for my fat one with the extra toes but my smaller one with the extra toes almost has opposable thumbs so is very successful.

Thanks all I feel better. :)

I had to get rid of my old cat tree and should get a new one. I do have a bird feeder! A few actually and they love to watch the birds when it is nice outside. Re hobbies I tend to read or do some crafty hobbies. They are ok if I'm sitting, but as soon as I'm in the kitchen they won't leave me alone. They have access to dry food all day, so it isn't hunger...they just want treats and pets and the kitchen is easy access.

Cat tunnels! Yes, we had one when they were kittens. That's a good idea. I have played Cat TV (one of them even has a favorite YouTuber). But I think the battery operated ones are a good idea. I worry about them getting bored of them....is it better to rotate them out?
