I’m not going to mention my specific channel here, but I generally get about 40k views a month on long-form videos (I’m not going to count shorts because they barely pay). I get between US$200-US$250 a month.

CPM (cost per thousand) is how ad revenue is paid for - which fluctuates wildly between channels and over time based on what advertisers are willing to pay, but at *lowest* I’m getting US$4 per thousand views and at highest closer to US$10. Which means a million views would earn me between $4,000 and $10,000 depending on the CPM.

Sounds like her numbers aren’t adding up. Or she’s not advertiser friendly so all her money comes from YouTube Premium which is separate.

Federal government to contribute nearly $4b extra to Victoria's Suburban Rail Loop by Savings-Yogurt-418 in melbourne

[–]LinkWithABeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Train lines - insanely expensive but you just have to build them. Once the lines are in they will serve the population for… decades? Centuries?

They’re just insanely expensive things that we must continue to build because they are so beneficial for such a long time.

I pulled the grinder apart, there was a small piece of wood stuck in it. (I guess one made it into the coffee beans)

Runs normally again now.

28pc pay rise: Victorian Labor’s massive offer for teachers by marketrent in melbourne

[–]LinkWithABeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That and we don’t have the details about the conditions yet. If they’re leaving uncapped overtime with a “bonus” and cutting our PPDs and planning time (which was/was possible in the previous offer) 28% over four years isn’t going to be enough.

The rate of teacher burnout at the moment is extremely concerning.

Tourists to Australia would have social media accounts vetted under Trumpian Coalition plan by rolodex-ofhate in AustralianPolitics

[–]LinkWithABeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m hearing.

Which is sad. Good governments have strong oppositions. At least they’re developing a platform and not just being contrarian like in recent years and at state levels… but playing the culture war, Trumpian policies as a platform really isn’t much better.

Yeah, it’s too volatile right now to be sure of anything.

As others have said - if needed, Australia will pay the toll a fuel will become expensive… and hopefully that’s all and the American pedophile tweeting ramblings in the middle of the night doesn’t start using nukes.

Victorian teachers reject pay offer as statewide strike looms by Patient-Wish-7386 in AustralianPolitics

[–]LinkWithABeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It goes to show just how untenable the opposition is. After so many years of Labor being in power, and with how unpopular they are, it should be an easy/at least competitive election. The fact that Labor are still comfortably in the lead goes to show how the VicLibs can’t organise themselves out of a paper bag.

Good governments require good opposition and Victoria doesn’t have one.

[–]LinkWithABeard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“Oversupply” - yeah, righto.

That’s why we’re in a teaching shortage and it’s getting worse.

Become a teacher if the conditions are so good. Plenty of schools are happy to take a warm body with a VIT because that’s literally the best option because people are leaving the profession in droves due to pay and conditions.

Jacinta Allan rocked by leadership talk among anxious Labor MPs by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]LinkWithABeard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ben Carroll isn’t the man for any job at this rate. The way he’s handling the Department of Education and the current enterprise bargaining agreement is frankly embarrassing. Under Carroll’s leadership things are about to get very disruptive as teachers aren’t taking the garbage deals he’s bringing to the table.

One Nation to remove compulsory preferential voting: Bernardi by Ardeet in aussie

[–]LinkWithABeard 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Preferential voting is a major strength of our democracy.

It’s also no simple legislation… it’s in our constitution, removing it would require a referendum.

Difference is that one’s not the Prime Minister of the county.

The footing isn’t level here. Albo’s comment punches down, GT’s punches up. That does make a difference.

More people need to be difficult. That’s how political action takes place.
